Luke's life began dimly. In his childhood he was kidnapped by an unknown assailant and subsequently lost his memory of his life before being found. He was found by the man who would become his teacher in swordsmanship, Commandant Van Grants. His family fearing for his safety, as well as the fact that he's the nephew to the King of   the country of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear, forbid him from ever leaving the estate and he's force to relearn what he'd forgotten locked within his home. He remains a "prisoner" for nearly seven years before the arrival of a mysterious stranger changes his life forever.

One day as Luke is practicing his skills in his homes courtyard he starts to feel a strange sensation and it's not long afterward that a mysterious stranger sneaks into the home using a song to lull any in her way to sleep. As Luke practices with his master, Van is attacked and upon seeing this Luke acts and brandishes his sword at her. It's then that their vibrations join together to cause "hyperresonance" that pelts the mysterious assailant and Luke halfway across the world into the enemy country of Malkuth. Luke learns that the stranger who attacked Van and was now with him, was  Van's sister ,Tear Grants.  During their journey Luke displays his bratty, rude, and self-absorbed attitude which often aggravates Tear but even so she decides to teach Luke of the world he's been denied for so long..
