The Macintosh (Mac) line of personal computers is designed and developed by Apple, Inc. - formerly Apple Computer, Inc. It runs macOS, a Unix operating system. Its current version, macOS 13.4 "Ventura" was released on May 18, 2023.
Steam, Portal 2 Coming To Mac
Makes the Valve Complete Pack an even better deal.
its very simple, now that macs run on intel cpus, there was less of a hardware barrier than before. I dont know how long they have been working on this, but I bet its been a while." As an owner of a mac and a PS3, I'm a little baffled. "
they need to take lessons from naughty dog and learn to develop for cell (they were totally offering lessons too).

I dunno what to think. On one hand it gives something else to people who bought their overpriced space computers to do.
On the other hand, People Don't buy a MAC for gaming in mind, nor care about it.
Oh well now those Trendy Hipsters who live at starbucks can participate in multiplayer games while they mooch off free WiFi instead of getting the fuck out so others can sit down.
" Now you can play portal 2 and wow on Mac, the choices are amazing. "Someone actually compiled a list of all the Steam games that are already available for mac: http://savygamer.co.uk/2010/03/03/here-is-a-list-of-games-currently-on-steam-that-already-have-a-native-mac-port-in-existence/ (with hopes that the teasers including TF2, Left 4 Dead, and HL2 actually mean that those games are also under development)
But yeah, you're pretty much right. Bootcamp really did wonders for mac owners, but it will be nice to not have to boot into Windows to play games.
A game comes to Mac and it makes headlines everywhere, what a sad, sad platform. Don't worry kids, Apple will soon take over and ruin the gaming industry with it's incredible vision of gaming, holding a ceramic tile full of sub-par hardware and software and touching shit on screen with no tactile feedback. That's the future.
As someone who has been on a Mac for 2 years, but still buys Steam games whenever a deal too good to pass up comes along, and haven't even booted into Windows to load said games, I'm way fucking jazzed. I hope other developers get on board with this policy. Now maybe I'll finish Episode 2...
I remember back when Halo was originally going to be a Mac game because Bungie developed games for the Mac. The first one was ported to Mac and PC but Microsoft ruin everything.
" Waste of time. I wish they would focus on bringing us Episode 3. As a PS3-only owner, I don't give a damn since I have a gaming PC. Windows 7 > Mac OS whatever "Speak for yourself, and stop flamebaiting. You talk like having and giving people options is a bad thing. I think we call people like you communists.
I'm sure Apple had a lot to do with this "decision". If I'm right, then I'm glad they've woken up to the idea that games *are* important, and that Steam is the greatest bastion of hope for PC gaming. I'd say I'm glad, but the only Mac I own is a low-end Macbook Pro (the non-Pro pro) with a 9400m. Then again, that card is better than the one in my last laptop, which could run the likes of Half-Life 2 just fine. Hell, I'll be glad to be able to play my more "casual" and old games on the thing. I already installed Starcraft and Warcraft 3 on it when Blizzard rolled out Battle.net 2. Oh, and freaking TORCHLIGHT! Seriously. Get to work on that, Runic.
Actually, this makes me wonder how the sales of games-focused Mac virtualization software will be affected.
By the way, not that I should need to defend Apple, but you *can* (and most people *do*) use two-button mice. Also, a two-fingered click on the trackpad = a right-click. Hell, I can play Starcraft on the trackpad of my Macbook, but I don't, since trackpad movements on any device are too slow for the quick clicks needed.

wish my mac could run games...
i'll just stick to vid editing on mac and gaming on PC thank you very much

" Steam will be the first thing I download on my new Hackintosh. "Oh yeah..this could be the thing I need to build next. Hackintosh would be a lot cheaper than a real Mac & still get all the OS X goodness.

Oh man I fucking hate goddamn Sorny. That asshole owes me like fifty bucks.
Fuckin' Sorny.
" Wow Valve. Just wow. Congrats on acting like a total asshole, but if that's how you roll w.e. BTW, take some lessons from Naughty Dog. How's that for ZINGG! "What's the lesson? Get bought by Sony so you don't have the option of making games for any other platform? Brilliant.
I wouldnt say Valve dont like PS3. You said it yourself, the hardware for a PC and a Xbox is pretty much similar, so making games for both PC and Xbox isnt much of a difference. While with the PS3's hardware, the cell-processor is quite different making games for compared to Xbox/PC. So I guess that is one of the reasons they're not making for the PS3. Especially considering they now are focusing on Mac aswell.
Well I just bought a new MacBook pro and since it sounds like Portal 2 isn't coming to PS3 like the Orange Box did, I'm pretty happy about this. My PC isn't anywhere near fast enough to play Portal, let alone Portal 2, so I'm glad I'll be able to play it somewhere.
Woo-hoo! Now I don't need to buy Windows 7! I have no problem with Windows (And 7 is pretty damn slick, i sure do love that new Taskbar), but I'm a Student. I don't wanna pay for Windows if I can avoid it. Now I can just play games on OS X on my MacBook Pro! Valve, we're friends :D
