Marvel Comic Geeks REJOICE!!!
If you love Marvel Comics and you play video games then chances are you played the first MUA and probebly even bought the hero/villian character pack(if you own the 360 version that is). MUA 2 brings back almost everything that made the original so awsome and adds some new features that makes the co-op experience more enjoyable.
The story takes place during the Marvel Civil War but doesn't follow it exactly, there's a pretty crazy twist in the 3rd act which causes both the Pro and Anti-Registration forces to unite to save the world once again. In act 2 you get to choose whether you Pro-Reg or Anti-Reg and the story kind of branches off from there. If you go Pro-Reg then you get to use Iron Man, Mr Fantastic, and Songbird and your tracking down and arresting the rebel heroes. But if you choose Anti-Reg then you get Captain America, Luke Cage and Iron Fist and your fighting the oppressive forces of SHEILD and trying to overturn the Superhuman Registration Act(SRA). There's likely one Marvel character in the game's roster that you'll be a fan of(except if you only like the really obscure characters like Blade or Cable) and you can expect Activision to release DLC characters a few months after release.
The gameplay is pretty much the same as in MUA 1 but with a few changes. The most obvious being Fusion attacks where two heroes combine their powers for devestating effect. Some examples of fusion powers are: Spider-man gathering enemies with webs and Human Torch blasting all the enemies(Clearing), Hulk grabing Woverine and hurling him at a boss(Targeted), and Luke Cage and Iron Fist just run around knocking down any foes that get in their way(Guided). The Guided fusions being the most fun since you take direct control of both heroes. Aside from the fusion attacks there's been a big cut back in the number of powers each hero has, where in the original each hero had up to 9 unique powers you only have 4 active powers here. Some people may look at this as a downer but personally i never really used all of Spider-man's powers in the first game so i don't really mind the change.
In conclusion, if you like Marvel Comics and you want a nice relaxing co-op game you can play with friends then you should deffinatly check this sequel out. There's enough collectibles and challenges that will keep you playing for a while.
