I don't get it. What's the gag? It's not funny. And I don't mean like this, I mean...It isn't funny. It is a failure at humour. It's just a link to a middling internet comedy sketch. Um...Ha? I guess?

[MAJOR SPOILER WARNINGS] ingsoc.org, Black Hound Speculation
Some people are apparently getting this image when they load the site. I don't even understand what this is all for anymore.
In the source code, there's also a 0x0 pixel iframe, which is linked to another youtube video, which is just 11 hours 11 minutes and 11 seconds of rain noises -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjdNx-PJ2-4
Edit - I guess that's what's playing the music on the page. When I first reloaded after the countdown ended I didn't get the background image, nor autoplay.
Guys, it was just a way for RoosterTeeth to sell sponsorship subscriptions. Funhaus was bought out by them a few months ago. The secret message is just more screwing with people.
@pmmcl That's just the rain sounds, hence why it's 0x0 pixels and autoplay. It's how they're playing the rain audio on the page.
From the page source, that's the actual image.
This was dumb.
This is a Silent Hill 2 reference.
This thing ain't done yet, whatever the fuck it is.
The folks who are pushing for the entire Konami and Kojima split to have been a hoax are going to have a field-day with this.
@do_the_manta_ray: Unless Rooster Teeth has partnered with Kojima for something (Going to say that's doubtful, he'd be more likely to work with Mega64 as he's done in the past) this is just more bullshit to spurn speculation. It's not that crazy to conceive of them doing this ARG, they have a huge team.
Oh so this is a silent hill thing? WHOOOOO CARRRRREEESSSS
Millions of Silent Hill fans im guessing?
@quid_pro_bono: Yeah, I noticed upon refreshing. When I reloaded first after the countdown was over, I got neither the background nor the autoplay background sound, so I didn't realize it was part of the page, but I cleared it up with an edit to my post right before you replied.

Yeah I just looked up the sales of the Silent Hill games. The number I found for the best selling game, Silent Hill 1, is 834 thousand USA and Japan combined. Now that comes from the gamefaqs board for Silent Hill, so I can't be sure if the person knows what they are talking about, but it sounds right.
clicked the picture on the site and it links to a youtube video from rooster teeth asking for money.... so yeah.

And what about the sales in Europe?

^This guy here knows whats up
@thejke: Yep, as of 2003 it was 300,000 officially so that makes sense. What also makes sense is that a company known to be shitty has no interest in giving a maniac a boatload of money and time to make a game that might sell a million units at most, eventually, just because the people that like it are very loud.

That would almost assuredly put it over 1m, but it would have to reach 2m before you can say millions of fans. Unless Silent Hill was much much more popular in Europe, I don't see that happening. Also, that is assuming that everyone that bought it liked it enough to be called a fan. I suppose there could be more people that are fans because of what they heard about Silent Hills, but it is very hard to figure out just how many fans there are.
So, the link to the Funhaus video was pretty funny. But, and I'm not going to speculate any further than this, but the url for the image of the text http://ingsoc.org/images/Lie.png, says Lie. Don't know if that implies the whole thing is a lie, the hidden text under the easily visible text is a lie, or the link is a lie. I'm going with the whole thing as of right now though. Cheers!
Is this Frog Fractions 2?
Nailed it.

According to some on Reddit, this was all a cheap PR stunt for some free indie game inspired by Sillent Hill.
It was too good to be true.

No, that was blackhoundgame.com, which appears to have been someone quickly piggybacking off the popularity of this, the people running ingsoc.org said they were not affiliated.
@who42knows: Maybe we should find something inside that image...

So it was just some random douchebags douchebagging on the douchbagginess of the ingsoc douchebags? Damn, that's too much.
Well, now all that is left to do is listen to the GB crew talking about this mess on the next Bombcast!
@xbob42: Just for shits and giggles i tried to reverse google image search that image but no go due to the framing of the image as a fake Polaroid.
@xbob42: That's James Willems from Funhaus.
