Nintendo Switch

Nintendo's home console that can be turned into a portable device by removing it from its TV-dock. Launched worldwide on March 3, 2017.
You Preordering the nintendo switch?
Nope. The only thing I would want to play at launch is Zelda and I already have a Wii-U. And a new Zelda game was like 70% of my decision to get a Wii-U.
It would be absurd for me to spend several hundred for a Switch when I can already play the only thing for it I am currently interested in.
I mean seriously, does this look like something that should be one of the big pillars of a new console
@rangers517: Not at all.
@colourful_hippie: I wondered this too. I locked in my Amazon preorder earlier today.
I got one on Target just because they had them in stock (with the fun neon joycons) and I knew I'd end up buying one anyway.
Nah, still excited about the console and what it can do, but most of the games I really want are quite a ways out.
Yep. Not that I'm ever an early adapter to begin with.

Ugh that look so uncomfortable lol
I mean, I want to play Zelda ASAP but... Torment is coming out five days before and I kickstarted that so I feel like I should play that first. And there are a ton of other great looking games like Nier Automata coming out in late February and March. And to get the system, a pro controller and a game it'll be at least $430.
I definitely want to buy it this year, but I don't think I'm gonna preorder.
I voted depends on what I see. After watching the conference I'm not going to get one at launch but still interested.
Can someone please explain to me how stock allocation works with preorders? I preordered a grey one from Amazon this morning in the UK and now it's sold out. I assume that means Amazon already knows the number they will be getting that's why they're listing it at sold out? I thought stores didn't get their allocations until closer to the time?
I guess 7 weeks is pretty close though. I watched a bit of the treehouse stream and it was weird to see retail units already. They also showed the Zelda game cart which surprised me.
@pompouspizza: Yes Amazon will already know their stock allocation.

Always adopt early. It makes you better than everyone else.

What is this, a console for ANTS?
@whitegreyblack: It sure looks like it
Those Joy cons look even worse than I imagined size wise. Curious how big that guys hands are. I'm 6' 5" with big hands and I can't even imagine I could play with those.
I preordered. The launch line up looks like it may potentially be very weak (although maybe they will reveal more ahead of time?), but I really like trying new tech devices and I have been saving up for this for awhile. I also preordered Zelda (duh) and 1-2 Switch. I figure Zelda should keep me occupied for quite some time.
I pre-ordered it. Mostly because I looked at this console as the successor to my 3DS . I know Nintendo is viewing it as a hybrid type, but to me this is something I can play my Nintendo games on. I do not view it as a replacement for my PS4/PC. I also want to very badly play Breath of the Wild and I'd rather have it on a console i'll be playing for a few years, versus the console I'll probably shelf and box in a year.
I'm weak and I preordered it, mostly thinking of the portability. Those joycons look terrible unhooked though, no WAY I could play using one of those tiny things. I figured if I changed my mind I can always cancel the preorder, or even sell it on arrival since there will likely be a demand for them.
I was thinking about it, but it was sold out on Amazon and Best Buy here in Canada a few minutes after it was supposed to go live. Hopefully they will get more and we won't have another classic 'Nintendo has no idea how to make anything' situation.
Although after reading more about it, some of the details don't sound great. I think the idea of paying for an online Nintendo service is hilarious, as is the free NES or SNES game that is supposed to compete with PS+ and Games with Gold.
I'm on board in the fall after a few more games are out. $466 (after tax for console, game, and pro controller [i want nothing to do with that stock controller]) for a Zelda box seems crazy for me personally.
I'm a no, the only game they've shown that I can't wait to play is Zelda, but I already own a system it's getting released on.
I would love if somehow, anyhow I could play Bayonetta 2 and Tokyo Mirage Sessions on this thing. Even if it means buying them for full price digitally I'd do it. Those were the two major games that I actually reaaaaaally want to play from the Wii U, but I couldn't justify getting a new console only for those two games.
I know it's pretty far fetched that select Wii U stuff would be available on the Switch, even digitally, since there's really not any precedent for that happening with Nintendo, but a boy can dream.
I usually don't pre-order consoles. I'm a laggard and I usually buy consoles used and if I do buy it new, I wait a year or more for a price drop. Not in a hurry to play the latest video games. Always been playing older games due to me being cheap.
Unless it's for family, the kids always ask me buy them new games.
