@scylo: To be fair, i spent a number of years post-high school largely bumming around different bands and only doing odd jobs until I finally started getting my shit together when I was like 20. in a way, I needed that time to figure myself out, but also I definitely didn't go straight from my equivalency exam to being a functioning person.
@aires: That's my point. It's possible I'm just not far enough along in the game to fully see how it confronts those things, but so far it mostly feels like it's using elements of that stuff without necessarily confronting it meaningfully. Like, the Throgmortons are a reference to a story that is generally viewed as pretty racist, but I haven't seen how the game subverts or addresses that at all beyond using it as reference material. I also haven't encountered the KKK in it yet.
I'm not saying definitively that the game handles these things poorly, but in the early hours it hasn't shown much beyond wanting to use these prejudices and metaphors as background dressing.
@furiren: I'll tell y'all what. If there is a specific side quest you would like us to try to go find, we can certainly see about making that happen. I'm not in any particular rush to finish the game, just want to make sure we aren't lingering on side stuff for too long before getting back to the main plot. So if there are any you feel strongly about, just point me in a direction. Don't need to know any details, just where I'd need to point the ship to find 'em.
@north6: 1. I'm going to do all the content eventually so it really doesn't matter what's interesting. I kind of like not knowing what I'm getting myself into.
2. I'm perfectly happy with the combat where it's at, thanks.
@jamesm: Oh, yeah, any given person off the street is gonna go "but ehm..." a million times when they are on camera, or finish every sentence the same way. I'm just saying it because Alex is a pro and typically doesn't, so there must be something that triggered it, right?
