I do not envy anyone with that kind of editing duty. Like Vinny said it's about 10 hours just to watch everything the first time. Then you have to timestamp everything, stitch dozens of separate videos together with comedic timing intact, and in some cases add in overarching music tracks to make transitions less jarring. Plus he likes to add in extra jokey things on the end so that's another couple of hours. Good Luck Turboman! You are the hero we need.
So its basically just a kind of cool puzzle game? All those years of hype just for this?
Pretty sure Jonathan Blow never intended there to be any 'hype' for the game. It's meant to be a pure experience so any expectations kind of ruin it, but it is also a commercial product that he has to make a living off of, and he has a publisher to answer to so some marketing had to get done over the tens of thousands of hours that had to go into crafting the 100% purposeful world.
I have heard nothing but groans about episode 5, but I was super impressed by this. Probably because my expectations were lowered, but I feel like it was a very appropriate ending.
For those who want to play some XCOM leading up to this, one of the highest quality mods ever just hit 1.0 for Enemy Unknown. It's called Long War, and has been pretty much consuming my life for the past month.
