I'll just say again- I love RDR2, despite disliking the last game and GTAV. People are entitled to their own opinions, I just feel like the vitriol Jeff brings to the table with that game is so unwarranted given how little he actually played it. Dan at least has seen a much larger chunk of it, so I'm more willing to give his arguments more merit.
I'm fine with the fact that Jeff and I seem to have wildly different tastes in games, but it's just a bummer to me that a lot of people didn't find the enjoyment in it that I did.
Did not expect RDR2 to be such a polarizing game. Maybe it's because I came in with lowered expectations, having disliked both the first Redemption and GTAV, but I've been so engrossed in 2 that I've not had any of the frustrations a lot of others seem to be having with it. I love the story and the world design. I don't mind riding from place to place, rather than fast traveling, because even after 30-40 hours, I'm still finding interesting things along the way.
And maybe I'm being forgiving on the mission structure and restrictions because I knew to expect that sort of thing coming in, but it still hasn't bothered me regardless. I love having a game that's so deliberately slow-paced and doesn't feel the need to throw combat at you every 5 seconds. Whatever it is, this game has hooked me in ways no other Rockstar game has. Shame a lot of other people have had a bad experience.
I don't see Jeff hard backing anything specific, even Tetris, sadly.
I really don't see anyone besides Jeff who would push back against Red Dead being a 'perfect' game/GOTY sadly.
Jeff despises Red Dead. He'd back anything over it the same way he did with Zelda last year, even though he was actually more positive on that than RDR. In fact, there seems to be enough pushback that I don't think they'll be able to come to an agreement on it.
But also...who cares? If you don't like the game and they name it their GOTY, that doesn't mean you have to suddenly like the game. Being at the top of the site's overall list doesn't make something the best.
@mrstohzuki: That's a shame. Yeah, they do need to do a better job with that, which seems like they should have an easier time with it since there are so many controller layouts for their systems in place already. Seems like they feel the need to justify things like motion and force-feed them into their games.
