1. I'm baffled by this point. Isn't this basically an argument for why a buy-it-once console is preferable to something you'll have to upgrade regularly? I'd understand your point if Xbox was the ONLY choice versus PC and thus the cheapest entry point to playing current games, but it explicitly wouldn't be under this plan anymore. Again, if I want a true buy-it-and-leave-it console, why would I get this instead of what Sony and Nintendo are making?

2. Not true anymore.

3. And I can play seemingly all of them on a PC. Especially going forward. Again, if I was in the market for an upgradable machine with the best games selection, why would I choose an Xbox?

4. Intentions are proof of nothing. Certainly not when compared to Microsoft's record with the XB1 and, PC gaming over the last few years.

5. There are multiple curated stores on the PC. All better-designed and better-populated than the Xbox store. Steam might be a shit show but it's plenty easy to find good games there. Same with Humble and GOG. The cream always rises.

6. Hmm.

7. It's not "shitting" on something to be reasonably critical of moves I don't like.

1st : the price. A console is 350$ with a controller and a game. A good PC worth the investment to play games is minimum 800$...and you will need to upgrade it every couple of years to fully take advantage of that investment.

2: a console is an easy to use all in one entertainment living room. PC is not that.

3: Microsoft has many great exclusives. Wether you like them or not.

4: An upgradable Console is the proof that they are invested in the console market, they wanna disrupt it and make it something it always should have been.

5: Can offer a curated store experience ( although...I feel the xbox store is getting more shit than good games). Steam for me is just a shit show right now. That doesn't help that I had my account hacked twice in the past 2 years and had to deal with the worst customer support I've ever encountered.

6. I could go on but I should probably get back to work.

7. People love to shit on MS. so...yeah

The lack of conviction from Microsoft about what the Xbox One is supposed to be is just remarkable. I have no idea why anyone would choose an upgradable XB1 over a PC that can tap into steam, gog, humble and any other better marketplace. And I have no belief that THIS is the strategy MS will stick to when it seems to change its mind every six months. All this muddled announcement confirms is that I will be avoiding this thing.

Excellent writeup from someone who understands this game far more than I ever will. Debates like the one in these comments are why I think review scores should be extinct. They're a relic from a time where a game shipped finished or even just attempted to ship finished. Don't need the "pre-review" terms or other cruft in the future. Just tell me what's going on with the game and if you (in your humble opinion) think my money is well spent on it.

Disappointed they couldn't get Dan for this QL. He is, after all, the best SFV player in the office. (Not counting the drinking bird toy, who, with all due respect to its ability to also beat Jason, has no business driving a QL.)

Good lord some of you get upset easily. Giant Bomb community is so damn weird sometimes. Un-clutch those pearls, folks. No need to get hysterical. Friends tease each other. This is a thing friends do. Everything is gonna be okay.

I very very much do not care. The coders and artists are infinitely replaceable. No matter how hard the job is there will always be those that want it.

Great attitude. If artists are replaceable, so are you at whatever job you do. Apathy like this makes working conditions worse for everyone in every industry. But thanks for clicking on the article just to tell everyone you don't care.

Must warm the hearts of developers everywhere to know that even the people who benefit the most from their gifts don't care at all about their happiness.

I would prefer Giant Bomb cover games and leave the politics aside.

I don't mean to be rude when I say this, but it's clear you didn't even bother to read the article if you equate this to not covering games and the effects the current industry has on the new class of visionaries. And that's fine if you want to ignore it. Not every piece of content is here for your consumption. But don't be that person who tells others not to write about something just because you don't care enough to see the connection and how it affects you.

What a kick-ass move. Instead of shutting him down, you let him build a massive archive and then bring him on board. This is why you are so loved, GB.
