Local multiplayer is back in a big way! (starting late 2012 and accelerating)
Some games may require multiple controllers, but they all only require a single gaming device and screen. Consider this list the answer to the party question: "what game can we all play together?"

This game easily predates everything else in this list besides Windjammers, but I still really like it.

Probably my favorite of anything on this list. Shares a bit of game feel (and a designer) with Hyper Light Drifter.
Yes, this game is two decades too early. It's still good enough that it has to be on this list.
