Killzone. I was absolutely blown away by that game. I still think I`m the only person on earth who actually stopped playing Halo in favor of this game at that time. This was of course before Gears of War and the 1000 clones that followed, when a dark and gritty sci-fi shooter actually felt fresh and unique.

@Grissefar:

I really wasn’t trying to be ignorant about anything:) But since CoD is one of the biggest pop culture phenomenons in recent memory, it also means that it has a huuuge fan base among people who doesn’t play or even care about other games.

As I said before, where I work, I`m outnumbered 1 to 5 against people who has no interest whatsoever to even try anything else. And it’s the same thing at all my friends’ workplaces as well. I`m really not trying to be ignorant about your favorite game here, but this could be a reason why that statistic looks the way it does. Of course I also could be way off, but it’s as good a theory as any:P

Wow good point there, man. I guess I just prefer numbers when comparing two things, as they tend to lie less often. My rant was more directed at BF3 elitists than you but I guess it didn't look that way. Ha ! Ha ! As for MW3, I don't love everything about it, but I still managed to put a good couple hundred hours into it so I guess that says something.

So have the five guys at my work who buys 3 games a year. FIFA, Need for speed and CoD. They were also obsessed with Angry Birds and Farmville when those games came. CoD have become so mainstream that you should know that many, many people playing that game are people like these guys. They`re not really interested in games like you and I. The ones I`m talking about here don’t even know what BF3 is, except “it’s probably a shitty CoD copy” (their words).

If you subtract all these “semi casuals”, I wouldn’t be surprised if we, the core gamers, are split pretty much equally between the two. After all, they`re both great games but offer very different experiences:)

My son is 7 and even though I have to admit that I more or less took a break from most hobbies the first 2 years after he was born, I probably play more now than before I had him to be honest. Both I and his mom are gamers, so he was basically born with a controller stuck to his forehead. We play lots of co-op games together such as the lego games, skylanders, super Mario etc. Lately we`ve been having an absolute blast with Minecraft on xbox. He also plays a lot of strategy games by himself, such as Starcraft 2 and the Dawn of War series (which got us into painting and gluing all these miniatures, and of course building bases out of cardboard boxes;p). Strategy is the one genre I don`t play myself, but it’s AMAZING to see him explore a genre by himself, with the same excitement and enthusiasm as I had as a kid, and to hear him explain and actually teach me.

When he goes to bed I play Battlefield 3, Dark Souls etc. All the games I want to play. I don’t miss out on anything because of him. On the contrary, I play LOTS of great games that I would have never played if it wasn’t for him. Even a bunch of shitty games that often becomes good because of him and me having fun together.

I think Fez is an amazing game and Phil an incredible artist and game designer. Maybe he shouldn’t do pr, but I sincerely hope he continues to make games. That kind of creativity in one single person is rare and very inspiring.

$15. Not for the game but for Tim Schafer and the idea itself.

Iraq changed a lot. Since the beginning of that war European news outlets have reported almost daily, in some way, shape or form about the 100 000 dead civilians and the 2 million Iraqis displaced Inside Iraq. About American media trying to justify it all. About American politicians lying. About the American people not knowing the difference between Afghanistan and Iraq. These are all examples of documentaries I`ve seen on cinema or TV. And every day that we go to work and our children goes to school, many of us are reminded as we are the ones now working and playing with some of the almost 3 million Iraqis who have fled their country.

I`m defiantly not trying to start a discussion on the war, but you asked so I`m going to give you an honest example:

Whenever you see the pictures of 9/11 you still get somewhat emotional, right? I definitely do, and I`m not even American. I still feel shocked and disgusted, even though I`ve seen those images a thousand times by now. The thing is that we`ve been bombarded with images exactly like those, but from Iraq for almost 10 years now. And to most people it`s equally shocking and disgusting to witness human beings do horrible things to each other, no matter if it`s on American or Iraqi soil.

These things do affect people and their perception of Americans in general in the same unjustified way that many Americans perception of Arabs has changed.

Positively surprised. Liked it a lot. Really enjoyed how you`re forced to work together.
