Presume there is no Beastcast this week due to the timing of the Microsoft showcase?

Hey duders,

Been catching up on some old series during the lockdown, and just letting y'all know it seems Part 14 of MGS:4 is broken. I've tried to stream the video in different formats and quality levels on the desktop site, mobile site, mobile buddy app and luchadeer apps for android and the video player app on the Microsoft Store. They all either time out to a black screen or come up with an error message.

On the site, it basically fast-forwards to the end of the video and the replay button in the corner appears, and on my history, the video is down as watched.

As another side note, downloading works fine so managed to watch it that way.

Likewise sure it was a Bombcast. I think I'll just queue a few up and once I find it I'll stick the timestamp in here for people who might want to find it in the future.

Ah man, Metal Gear Scanlon is so good. I'm just working my way through them again now (mainly out of an innate desire for good Kojima after being so disappointed by Death Stranding) but a few of Turboman's Best of videos do digest the best bits really nicely - as always.

Hey duders,

I recently found this absolute gold on youtube:

https://youtu.be/-0wu6R6mfeo

Can anyone recall where the original discussion took place? A cursory YouTube and google search gave no indication. Cheers.

Weirdly enough I too have a similar story regarding an elevator with a box of shit which lived there for about a week at university. Not quite in a pringles can, but a transparent lunch box. It was truly horrendous and likewise spent the full week avoiding that elevator as I navigated 14 flights of stairs just to avoid it - along with pretty much everyone else in the block.

Engineer duders,

I've been using a variety of Android apps to keep up with the GB content while on the go; from Luchadeer, Video Buddy and such.

The watchlist is a pretty useful tool of keeping a way of checking up on shows you follow, but reckon there will be any way to (like the apps above) maybe set up a queue of videos to catch up on?

Not sure if this has been discussed previously or if it's even possible, but it'd be very handy for when watching on the full site.

Definitely. Microtransactions, crunch, and layoffs are pretty much the 21st Centuries' Hottest Mess. Man. What a hot mess.

The difficult thing about Hottest Mess is a lot of the best candidates are often ongoing issues in the industry. The big problems tend to be the most pernicious, so they don't appear within the course of a year, and disappear before the next; they're more long-term than that. Along those lines, the widespread, never-ending crunch that has happened over the course of 2019 is probably the worst thing so far, and even if that doesn't fit the spirit of Hottest Mess perfectly, maybe it deserves to be the pick because it would draw more attention to an already desperate problem in the industry. If we're picking a disaster more specific to this year, however, it's gotta be Pitchford. I've never seen anyone that high up in the industry spiral out of control in the way he has. I still can't quite believe it's happened.

I think the Blizzard/China thing has to be on there. Heck, it could even just be Hottest Mess: Publishers. Blizzard, Epic, EA & Riot have had one heck of a messy year.

On the horrendous allegations of abuse, is hottest mess even the right thing to call it? I mean it absolutely needs highlighting and condemning from every opportunity, but maybe there needs to be a whole new category with Soule, Kennedy, Holowka, Pitchford, et al. Hottest Mess seems slightly disingenuous to the victims of these men.

On the Beastcast this week Alex lamented how hard it is to get 10 games for his 2019 list, and honestly, I'm on the same page. Yet if we were to make a Top 10 for Hottest Mess it'd be almost impossible to keep at only ten. What a state this industry is in.

@pontoon_yacht: Crying at that GIF. Amazing.

Congrats Jeff and lady friend (as Rorie would put it) - wishing you many happy days and not too long nights...
