Same opinion on FF16. I enjoyed it but it would have been way better without the bloat.

Damn you for posting the Analogue Pocket, ha. I talked myself out of getting one but my Dad just found a bunch of my old Game Boy games that I'm taking back home with me so now I'm looking at their site again. Also I'll probably get their 3D when it comes out because I have a bunch of N64 games from a previous trip 😂.

Yeah Hi-Fi Rush was my Game of the Year too. Just the best surprise, combining two of my favourite genres. Funny enough I actually wrote a Stylish Rhythm Action game design doc in school but it definitely wasn't as well realized as what Tango Gameworks actually executed on.

Honestly if this and Pentiment are the type of Made for Game Pass stuff we can expect going forward then I'm much more excited for Xbox Games Studios compared to the long delayed sequels to big IP stuff that they announce too early.

I was wondering why this disappeared off the schedule last week, lost footage explains it.

I've been poking at this a bit and it seems okay. It's got some F2P mobile trapping but like Jan said they don't really gate you with energy mechanics and whatnot as much as I would have expected.

Also I appreciate that while it does sync the time of day to your clock there seems to be nothing that gets closed off during certain hours and it does not seem like your penalized at all for taking extended breaks? So it doesn't appear to have the negative reinforcement loops that Zynga became famous for.

In some ways this feels like a Disney Infinity successor. I wish they had just figured out a way to keep that game going after the toys side of that business did not do well enough for them to keep it going. Will be interesting to see how fast they add content to tie into new movies, like the upcoming Strange Worlds.

Also I will die if they add Monkey Island content.

This was definitely the most unlikely game to be announced in 2022. And definitely announcing it on April Fools, releasing it on Talk Like a Pirate day was genius.

I finished Part 1 last night and was just grinning most of the time. It definitely caters to nostalgia and I adore how they pick up exactly where MI2 ended without retconning the non-Ron Gilbert games. It's some clever writing.

Was skeptical how much people relatively new to the franchise would get from it but good to see Jeff and Jess enjoying the general style of the humour.

As someone who worked on a PSVR game I always appreciated how easy it was to get in and out of that headset and it looks like ergonomics of the PSVR2 are pretty similar. Seems like it does not have Quest style built-in audio, which would have been nice.

Seemed like from the video that the single cable is positioned relatively well to keep out of the way?

It sounds like AC Infinity is kind of a Halo Waypoint style hub. They were very specific about not calling it a game so I'm not expecting any 3D avatar stuff but maybe. Codename Red sounds like it'll still be in the same vein as the Origin, Odyssey, Valhalla since they are calling it an "Open-World RPG". But their claiming the Clint Hocking game, Project Hexe, is not an RPG and will be very different.

So that says to me they won't have a unified mechanical design to Infinity. It'll probably launch different executables under the hood. I think the reason that Mirage isn't part of Infinity is because it's not ready yet. Mirage is a Valhalla DLC they spun off into a standalone, so it's not really meant to be the next step in what they are calling Phase 3 of the franchise.

I hope the Nintendo Direct announces Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp is out that day. It would be good to get that out before the rush of games in late October.

I'm with Jordan on wait for a sale for The Last of Us Part 1. It does seem like a worthwhile remake and does fill niche for PS5 exclusive content. But between my backlog and the stuff coming out this fall it's hard to argue that spending $30 CDN more than I spent on the PS3 launch version is worth it (Sony was still pricing Canada at parity with the US at the time).
