It's good to see that this obviously isn't common. Man, my world got flipped for a second.

I just had a "friend" I've known for like 3 years, remove me from facebook because I ragged on his opinion of Final Fantasy XIII. His impressions listed things that weren't true about the game so I made a comment that I didn't think was particularly snide suggesting he, "didn't get it." I wasn't correcting his impressions that were opinions, but simply the impressions that were  false. He for example didn't get the star rankings that appeared at the end of every battle and called the rankings, "arbitrary," so I explained that they were time related and time allowed per enemy was different depending on the enemy type. After he demonstrated his frustrations I tried to alleviate the pain I caused him by explaining myself. I said, "you didn't get it," because of these things that you said that are simply untrue, and so on. I listed a few and explained why those things were wrong and that I didn't think said knowledge would recolor his opinion of the over all experience, but that perhaps it could.

Anyway, he set me this in response after removing me as a friend: Have fun on your high horse buddy. All of your shit is arbitary, and again, I know how the system works. If you think you gleaned that much more than anyone else you have a huge fucking ego. Eat a dick

To be fair, I didn't know him that well, we just met up through a mutual friend fairly often. a few years back.  If I could I'd copy and paste the dialog to see If maybe I was being snarky and just didn't notice, but this has confused and horrified me. Has this happened to other people? Are some gamers this sensitive? I really didn't think I was being rude, I just enjoyed the game well enough and figured I'd explain the stuff he thought was arbitrary.

Hell the first time i played Bioshock I was disoriented and hated the game. Then I went and played some FPSs cause I hadn't really played very many and gave the game another shot. It's now one of my favorite games.

I'm glad someone that wasn't me said this.

The law itself is not bigoted.  It's peoples' interpretations of it that are painting it as such.  Nowhere in the law does it explicitly state "And if you find some bean eater that doesn't speak English, kick his ass the fuck out." "
Don't be a child. It has already been shown, in this thread, that it's already be interpreted by at least 1 cop in the way we feared . I wish everyone that was for it, would at least admit that it is a racial thing and would be honest and say they just don't care (or think it's worth it). Stop pretending you care about people. You don't.

The post above this shows how misinformed people are.

You said, "  Additionally, you only think about the Hispanics. How do you think the Native Americans will be affected by this bill? You never think about them, do you? Only the Hispanics, because that is what the media wants you to focus on.."

Hahaha, you sounds like a typical conservative.

No I had actually just hungout with 3 friends of mine at a hookah bar where we spent about 30 minutes making jokes that they would never have to worry about this law (cause they're all white) while me, and a lot of the people there, that have a brown skin tone will have to be worried. We mentioned Arabic people, Hindus, Mexicans, Persians and Native Americans. I actually revealed to them that I'm actually only half Mexican, the other half being Native American (Yacci) and Asian Indian.

If you think I'm full of it, keep in mind that I work at a Mediterranean restaurant owned by people from Jordan and Egypt. That family is also very pissed off by this.

Call it what you want, if you don't think treating people differently based on skin tone is racist, but I call it racist regardless of context. There is never a justification to treat people differently over race, sex, or sexual orientation.

I think it is wrong to treat people with skin color differently. For example, you are assuming that people with lighter skin are treated better simply because they have lighter skin. You think that they live lives in some fantasy world, and that it is the darker skinned people who do the heavy lifting. That kind of fantasy does not exist. All races and genders are equal.  "
I would say the exact opposite and state it as fact, but I don't think you're going to believe it even though this LAW and how it's ALREADY being used is proof to the contrary.

You can keep living in this fictional world of yours, but all of my friends that are white generally agree that they have benefits that come from having a longer heritage here as well as generally being treated better/with less suspicion. You can keep thinking that isn't true, but that doesn't make it so.

This really isn't the point though, and I think arguing with you will be a waste of time. I'm sure you feel the same when it comes to arguing with me. Anyway, here's another link that really didn't say a whole lot, but it's a good read.

Also a quote from said white friend that has a  B.A in Political Science and has graduated from law school. (This was during a race/kanye west debate after the whole Taylor Swift thing.).

"Yeah, white people don't have it hard in American society, and that's not really debatable. I did feel kinda bad for her (she's like 18, right?), but I'm always going to like Kanye for the "George Bush doesn't care about black people" quote. You so rarely see anyone saying things like that, but it's so fundamentally true."

Also she's generalizing because in these contexts we have to look at the big picture.

What I'm saying is that searching everyone is the only fair way.

Hey look , a non-racist approach how complicated a concept. *rolls eyes*
" Maybe the police will handle this new power with some grace."

I really hope so. That video of the Young Turks pretty much illustrated what we all feared and it isn't even a law yet.

My friend just called me pissed off because her mom got a ride from a co-worker (Mexican) and the cop gave him a hard time for not having his ID when he asked for it. Her mother claims that the cop gave him about 30 seconds, and when the man found his ID which was in his wallet that slid under his seat (about a minute later), the cop simply said, "too late." She thought it was race related, I'm not really sure cause I certainly wasn't there, but cops can be assholes. So even if there are good cops, this just allows the assholes to be big dicks.

I think someone said it's not the law's fault if the cops abuse it. Well it's the government's job to keep laws written in a way in which they can't easily be abused.

" You do realize that you have to pay a lot of money or wait years sometimes to legally enter the U.S. from Mexico, right? The system is so bloated and expensive that people eventually get desperate. This bill hits close to home for me. I'm second generation, my dad waited so long he eventually had to settle for being a "legal alien". He will never be a full American citizen. A lot of my family's had issues with this, and I've seen other families literally be torn apart - mothers and fathers being deported while the kids born here are put into extended family or friend's care. It's not a "romanticized" view, it's reality, and it sucks. Honestly? The majority of illegal immigrants work their asses off, send money home and then go home after a certain amount of time. Claiming that they put a strain on social services isn't an excuse either since immigrants typically pay taxes but aren't eligible for government services. "

They don't realize or care.

@tunaburn: Explain how believing Whites and Non Whites should be treated the same is "anti-white?"

Anyway, I'm going to bed too, anyone in favor of this trash is obviously unaffected by it or like I said horrendously misguided. How they can sleep at night, I dunno.
