My top 10 Games of 2015

It's that time again! Likely not the most educated list as I only played maybe 12 games that actually came out in 2015, but that's enough to make sorted list right? In the interest of brevity I'll try and keep my thoughts to single sentences so I don't spend all dang night on this!

EDIT: Some changes have been made to my list based on games I played since I wrote it or stuff that I didn't think counted but it does!

List items

  • As someone who started but never bothered to finish either of this games predecessors; Witcher 3 is an astounding leap forward for the series and genre with it's vast open world full of interesting quests and characters that feels alive and lived in like most other games like it haven't been able to pull off.

  • It makes me so happy when I see a game being announced and go "THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER" and then I actually get the game and it's pretty much spot on; Mario Maker is simply fantastic and the way it introduces players to the concept of game design is truly fascinating.

  • Though a bit weird in that it's been playable for years but "released" this year, this game finds an amazing balance between realistic astrophysics and giving you wide variety of tools and options to build crazy space vessels and somehow make them work (or watch them explode brilliantly)!

  • Fallout 4 brings back a lot of great memories from playing Fallout 3, and despite the games technical flaws I find myself pouring hours into exploring the Commonwealth and taking in everything the world Bethesda's crafted has to offer.

  • Take the ship combat from Assassin's Creed IV and sprinkle that all over a wild west space cowboys setting and you have a game basically made specifically for me.

  • I've never liked a Metal Gear game before; I like this Metal Gear.

  • I have never been able to handle the aiming in console shooters, but the gyro controls of Splatoon completely changed that; coupled with the fun art style and community that make this game one of the best experiences I've had on the Wii U.

  • AKA; The Actual New SimCity You Wanted.

  • The nice visuals and simple elegance of the gameplay add to the simple pleasure you get just from traversing this world!
