@saintatilla: Not really. Braille is pretty strictly set in identifiable rows and columns; braille body art looks like this. (Fun fact; some people get braille done with scarification, to give it a discernible texture; I know a guy who got his blind daughter's name done that way, so she could feel it on his arm).
I shouldn't have commented on it, though. I don't know if Abby is into strangers speculating on her body art.
@cyberspacecat: Spending a little more time looking at it, yeah, he looks like a shit. That's what I get for only doing surface level research; an incomplete picture.
I won't be buying this one; too bad. It does look nice.
@heatdrive88:I've spent a little time looking into this. It seems to me that he (Tim Soret) isn't really a misogynist, but is rather naive and thin skinned. He took personal offense at some of the things Sarkeesian et al. said (keeping in mind this is all a few years ago, now) and decided to jump in with the GamerGate crowd, without really taking an equally critical look at what they were doing and saying. Shitty, but not as hateful as it could be.
That's not much of an excuse, though, as far as I'm concerned. That kind of cluelessness is a pretty big black mark against a person's character. I'm sure that if The Last Night blows up some people will want to talk with Soret over his previous statements. If he stands firm with the GGaters, I may have to avoid a purchase.
(A note: I don't really stand with the Anti-GamerGate crowd, either. I'm a feminist, even somewhat of an inter-sectional feminist, but I don't tie my wagon to movements that makes use of tactics I find objectionable)
Blind and visually impaired people do not see. Not with sound, not with our hands, not with our canes. Doing this "paint the world with sound" bullshit needs to go away. It turns real people into caricatures. What we can do is different. It might be damn hard to introduce into games, but not impossible. The attempt should be made, in my opinion.
@sparky_buzzsaw:The guy in that video teaches navigating with sound. Part of the training is also how to use a cane effectively. The guy is really impressive, and what he's doing (trying to find new ways to increase mobility and independence for blind individuals) is something that's been languishing by and large since the introduction of the white cane in the 1930s.
The fact that people like that exist make shit like Daredevil and this game even worse. We're ignoring real progress and real changes, for the sake of a two-bit gimmick.
The sun isn't fire, its core is actually a continuous nuclear fusion explosion. What keeps it going is that there is a shitload of hydrogen being fused into helium. The rest of the sun is made of super high temperature plasma, and occasionally extra large explosions throw this plasma out into space in the form of solar flares.
That's how I remember it, at least. Been a long time since high school.
Looks very interesting. I though Lords of the Fallen was okay, but too clunky to feel actually great. This looks smoother, and faster. Gonna give it a try.
