@dredlockz: I haven't been able to beat it!

I had been starting on Africa (then Nigeria and South Africa leave the council if need be) but I think I'll take your advice and start on Asia.

I already prioritize satellites, I aim for a 2x2 grid surrounding the pre-existing one. That gives me 14 satellite capacity, I think. Meaning I expect to lose two countries. How many countries did you end up losing?

I had not considered giving my assaults rifles. In Normal, I got the alloy cannon for my two assaults and wrecked with a Run&Gun/Rapid fire combo. I think your suggestion is smarter for Classic.

Did you really only build 2 workshops? I thought number of engineers was pretty key and had been working toward a 3x3 grid of them (that much importance I gave them).

Also, how do you get prepared for the first terror mission? That seems like the make or break for me. I always wipe and lose a country.

I scewed up a bit since I always get the USA first in north america, since it yields the most money

Ha ha, no biggie, we Canadians have a sore spot for being overlooked. It's cool that we are given some respect in this game.

Haha, Mexico is even more ignored. Most U.S. dwellers don't even consider it "North America". But XCOM knows better!

Is that woman, Lauren Faust, still head of the MLP show? I'm wondering since she seems to be circumventing Hasbro quite radically.

Fuck Connor and fuck the USA (as a historical setting), two of the most boring fucking concepts in video games ever.

Now I'm actually excited about an AC game again. Fingers crossed for Imperial China/ Ancient Egypt and female protagonist.

You are prolific today, mrfluke.

I really hope immersive games like these become more popular. I want something to lose myself into when the Ocululs Rift comes out.

Any chance there are going to be rules against just saying "First" on every article/video?

Oh please, this. I hope that it stops now that quests aren't a thing, but for some reason I have this nagging fear that it will happen anyway.

Before we had that quest i don't think i ever saw one person do that on this site so it should be ok, but there are more new people on here so who knows.

It'd be too confusing a rule to enforce. Most people online know not to be jerks and that being an ass might result in a ban but it's too much to ask the general populace to know that commenting with a "first" type comment would result in a ban. People will always want to be seen at the topside of comments so they'll always post something without reading/watching the content -_-;; I'd think a better option would be if you could up/down vote comments with downvoted ones automatically being collapsed but we can't all have what we want =)

What do you think this is, Reddit!?

Yeah, fuck that. Downvoting kills individuality and results in endless circle-jerks. People don't downvote inane comments or those that violate rules (there's reporting/flagging for that) they downvote what they don't agree with, which is stupid.

Everyone gets the same visibility in GB.

ME2, Persona 4... No, wait P3 had already become more accessible than its predecessors, right? Fallout 3 is more appealing than 2, I'd say. Some might argue Dead Space 2 is superior to the first one (it's not).

Chess.

Everything else I have ever played has room for improvement.

White goes first. Also, I would argue Go is even more perfect than Chess. But again, white goes first. Go is argued by many game scholars to be the best game of all time. It is incredibly simple to learn but takes a lifetime to master. It is perfectly balanced in every way except for its sole flaw that white always goes first. Since Go isn't perfect there simply can't be a perfect game.

That said I would list four video games as coming as close to perfection as I could imagine

- Braid - Closest to perfection. Outside of a couple unfair puzzles there is no flaw. 10/10 for me.

- Half Life 2 - At the time of release I would argue that due to the technical limitations of the time the game was about as perfect as I could imagine. Like most games where tech is a major factor, though, certain elements of the physics engine as well as the constant loading means that today the game is only a 9.5/10.

- Portal - Again, outside of the load times I would call the game pretty flawless in its execution. That said, the improvements in the second game prove that the first game wasn't perfect as perfection can't be improved on.

- Journey - In all honesty I can't think of a single flaw in this game other than the fact that you can't turn the motion controls off so the camera sometimes will pan when you don't want it to. It and Braid are my two 10/10 games. Portal and Half Life 2 are the 9.9's.

Why is White going first a flaw? Simply flip a coin and decide who gets White.

I'm sure its mixed feelings. On one side, there's a lot of creativity pouring out from the forums and community and sometimes outright worship. On the other, the demographics are on the younger side and sometimes young people are immature assholes.
