Am I some kind of weirdo here for not having debt? Middle-class, entry-level retail job, lives with parents who chip in some of the money, and commutes to state uni 6 miles away. Unless I decide to go to graduate school somewhere else I don't expect to take on any sort of debt.

btw, $26k is a lot of money, but it could be much worse. If they let you pay it over a long period of time, it's totally manageable. The way I see it, if college costs you more than a luxury car, there's something wrong there.

General American: ˈfaɪ̯.ɚ

Received Pronounciation: ˈfaɪ̯ə(ɹ)

Those are just two accents, of course.

It only gives you benefit, however, if the OS is installed on it. That's pretty much a requirement, or else the benefits of an SSD aren't really worth it. Anything at or above 256GB should be fine for OS stuff and a few games you'd like to prioritize, and we're at a point now where it's not too expensive to do it.

This is not true. You can get the benefits of the SSD without having OS on it. For example: games from non-OS SSD will still load faster than they would from regular HDD and things video editing is much faster if your cache/input files are on the SSD even if the program (+OS) is on a regular HDD.

What I mean to say is that most of the benefits of an SSD come from having the OS installed on it. Sorry if it wasn't clear. Point is: if your OS is installed on an HDD, but you have an SSD installed for other things, then there's a lot of missed opportunity, in my opinion.

It's hard enough to invent a fictional language for a movie, game, or series, let alone three of them and then some (Atlas doesn't count).

That said, it's not unusual that an entire language in this game is distilled into a few hundred words. In real life, you only need to understand one or two thousand words, depending on the language, in order to grasp a language and be able to learn new words without problems. We could assume the words learned in NMS are just the most common and basic ones for each species, and given how simplistic interactions are with the aliens anyway, the languages probably don't need more.

The best thing about SSDs is that every little thing your computer does will be done much quicker. It can't render game graphics, per say, but it can retrieve the assets for the graphics faster. An SSD is a must for just about the whole computer.

It only gives you benefit, however, if the OS is installed on it. That's pretty much a requirement, or else the benefits of an SSD aren't really worth it. I'm 6'2", and everybody thinks I'm tall. I guess that's true. I think California has shorter people than the us average. Very few people in high school were taller than me.

I just want to go on an adventure, exploring places in space that nobody's seen before and making my stuff cooler and better. They've shown enough of the game for me, and any other cool things the game has are just icing on the cake.

I'm not expecting the greatest video game ever, but I've seen enough to expect that it will bring a great and unique experience of some kind. I don't want to make shit up and ruin it for myself, so I'm going to sit back, relax, and enjoy what hits me. That's enough to be a success in my mind.

If Civ V didn't exist, I suppose Beyond Earth would be an alright game. It is fact, however, that Civ V does exist, and it's generally regarded to be better in almost every facet. If they tried making BE its own thing rather than repurpose the Civ V formula, I think more people would be into it. Instead, they limited themselves in their creativity, and the final product shows.
