The Battle Network games were some of my absolute favorites of that time; played each of them for hundreds of hours. But like Jeff, I mainly liked the story and overall premise of them. The combat was fun too, but it was never the draw for me. Playing a game that has that combat (even making it more complex) but being completely divorced from the Battle Network universe is just... not appealing to me whatsoever.

YES, I 100% thought the Amoeba song was saying Tony Hawk in THPS 3. And then when I heard the same song when it was on the radio in GTA V, I was like how the hell did I ever think that?

Playdate still seems like a thing you check out for 5 minutes, say "alright," and then move on. Definitely not for everyone.

Sleep is great. Not sleeping ever again would suck.

I am definitely not a teen or know what teens like these days, but I'm pretty sure that whole "less and less teens care about getting their license" thing remains true. Going places is expensive, and malls are mostly dead, so the traditional hang out spots are dwindling. The internet, on the other hand, is free (assuming you have parents that pay for it).

The main problem is that they no longer have a podcast host (i.e. a person who can direct the flow of the cast) who is disinterested in wrestling and therefore will keep it to a minimum - formerly, this was Brad. But, admittedly, they did not linger on it for too long here.

As a lifelong Star Wars fan and also someone who was the exact age demo for the prequels, I have always liked the prequels, flaws and all. This new wave of prequel appreciation is too little too late. Bunch of damn bandwagoners. Some of us were always here!

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands kind of seems similar to Saint's Row 4 in that they took an idea that works ok for a DLC but then stretched it out to cover a full game, and it doesn't really work anymore. (Granted, the DLC that became SR4 never actually came out, but similar enough.) The whole premise of haha we took this gun-heavy game and are trying to pretend it's like D&D, which works ok for a piece of side content that lasts a few hours, is not nearly interesting enough to carry an entire game. At least, I don't think so personally. Especially considering... I don't know, the whole idea of playing an entire game that is "fake" even within the context of the game's universe is just really fucking weird. Again, works for like a piece of side content or like one portion of a game (like a particular quest chain or whatever), but not for an entire game.

I'll echo what I commented last week and say I know I'm a square, but highlighting and even praising crimes seems like a... bad look. They aren't malicious crimes, but still, don't think they should be given air at all.

Eh, fuck that Tesla jump video. I thought it was stupid to begin with, but finding out later that people's parked cars were wrecked because of that dumb stunt made me angry. Fuck the people who did that shit.

There's an unconfirmed rumor going around that Bruce Willis is in so many bad movies recently because he's developing dementia. So he's cashing in on his name and collecting as many paychecks as he can while he still can. Puts the whole thing in a stark light... assuming it's true, that is. Maybe he is just lazy, and wants easy paydays.

I know I'm a square, but that emailer should not be proud about helping people buy drugs like that. That's fucked up, in my opinion. But maybe I'm immediately thinking hard drugs, and it's slightly more benign than that.

The time change sucks, but it's never been that big of a deal to me. Hopefully that bill goes through so we never have to think about it again, nor hear people complain about it twice a year. Also, the first time we pass a time change that doesn't happen, it will probably be funny to see the people who didn't get the memo and are wondering what is happening.

As for "who would skip ahead in chapters?" question Jess asked - Goodreads has an ask a question about a book feature, where you can ask things about a particular book and other users will provide answers. (Usually it's stuff like "is this ok for kids?") I've seen on multiple books where the book in question is a sequel or somewhere in a series that is not the first book, and there's people asking if they can just jump in at that book instead of starting at the beginning. I have no idea why the hell you'd bother reading something if you're going to skip over any amount of it, but it's apparently something that some people want to do.

Oh, to live in a world where the phrase "I want to kill Chaos" is viewed as being completely normal and an actual thing one can do.

I've come to terms with the fact that I basically have the exact opposite taste of Jess in games, but what the absolute fuck was that game she brought? Some rape basement shit? What the fuck?! Who would think that's ok?

The two prevailing takes I see about Starlight Coke's (aka Space Coke) taste are graham cracker and cotton candy. It tastes like graham cracker to me, 100%. Which is kind of a shame, because I would totally be into a cotton candy-tasting Coke. But as it is, it's just ok. I don't hate it, but I don't like it much, either. EDIT: Had a second one and yep, still tastes like graham cracker. I wonder if the people saying other things are drinking the Zero version. I'm only having the regular one.

100% agree with that cutscene control email. In the past 10 or so years it's more or less become universal that games allow pausing during cutscenes. But it's still not guaranteed, and also because it was not a thing for so long before then (when any button press would automatically skip), I'm still to this day always gunshy about hitting any buttons during a cutscene. I hate it. I just want full control over it.

Jeff G saying "a diaper has to be changed" followed by the words "deliberately wipe" ... teehee.

Souls games are just the definition of anti-fun to me. The gameplay loop of dying and (potentially) losing shit you've worked for does not appeal to me in the slightest. Elden Ring does not seem to change much/enough of the things I hate about those games.

I lol'd when Tam was like "I don't want to sound like a fanboy" in the middle of a ~15 minute rant about why Fromsoft games are the best ever. Too late for that one.
