Dan's 180 on Death Stranding continues to be frustratingly hilarious. He was so annoying about that game the first time around. And I don't even care about the game.

To the people saying he should revisit RDR 2: yes he should, but I believe he addressed this on the Fire Escape GOTYcast saying that RDR's problem was the animations and stuff taking too long, and he didn't think a replay would change his view on that.

Possibly the only person related to games media that didn't turn 100% against 12 Minutes, lol.

Don't worry, Rorie - New World is not popular anymore. It fell off fucking hard. Repetitive content plus overall lack of meaningful content once you get deeper into the game plus their absolutely terrible management of the game post-launch (breaking crucial things in the game like trading and stuff and then not being able to fix it right away) killed off the general interest in the game fairly quickly. It's mostly just diehard people that are still playing.

I just started reading the first book of the Expanse series last week. Knew absolutely nothing about what the series was, other than that it's sci-fi and popular. Enjoying it quite a lot so far, and looking forward to getting deeper into it. I also read the first 3 books of Stormlight Archive between the end of 2020 and first half of 2021. I'll get around to the 4th eventually. I really like it, but man those books do drag on sometimes. Sanderson sure knows how to write amazing climaxes, but also knows how to make things take forever to get there.

I'll be honest: back around 2010ish, when we still had old TVs at home (we didn't get our first "HD TV" until 2013), whenever I'd go to some place like a Best Buy and see their wall of TVs that (in retrospect) obviously all had motion smoothing on, I thought it looked incredible. I had no idea what was going on/what it meant at the time. I just assumed that was the "HD" part of "HD TV."

Sure were a lot of visual cues in this... probably the worst it's ever been.

I avoided Hitman 3 because the EGS authentication mess sounded like a nightmare, and I would've refused to start over from scratch. I'm looking forward to finally getting to play it. Although it's January 19th with mere hours to go until the 20th, and there still isn't a Steam page up for it... EDIT: Ah, they were hiding the page because it's an absolute goddamn mess of a dozen different "versions," and also there's no discount on it. Didn't want to have that mess of a page out ahead of time.

I have no idea about the quality or fun-ness of Rainbow 6 Extraction, so not commenting on that part, but claiming that no one cares about the Siege operators as characters is about on par with claiming that no one cares about the Halo story. It is simply wrong. I think it's pretty cool that they are using the same operators and they're being fleshed out.

Hell yeah, GameSharks were awesome. I was the only person I ever knew who owned a GS or Action Replay for anything. Friends always wanted me to cheat for them when they learned what it could do. I had a carefully curated list of Action Replay GBA codes for Pokémon, I let a friend look at them, and he managed to somehow wipe the entirety of the AR's memory... to this day I have no idea how he did it.

Wow, that Grubb story about being suspended was crazy... although it does raise the question why a new kid would moon a table.

It was a bit surprising to hear Jeff G talk about E3 almost positively for once. I feel like when the cancellation has been announced for the past 2 years, he's been the one to dunk on it the hardest, saying it doesn't need to exist anymore etc. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, I suppose.

Well, this was... something. At least Teardown is kind of cool, I guess.

Jason moved across the country to Atlanta and Jeff G moved to an undisclosed location that is somewhere not Petaluma/SF. (From various context clues over the past few months it seems like it's somewhere in northern Cali, but that's kind of vague. Regardless, not near SF.) It was inevitable that there would be no studio. But it's still sad.

I'm glad to find out what the hell Wordle is finally. There's literally no context in the tweets, and I refused to look it up on principle. In my eyes, the lack of a link or info was less of a bad advertising move and more of a calculated attempt to make people go "what the hell is this?" and look it up. If it provided a link, most people would ignore it; but curiosity can compel people to take further steps.

It sure would be nice to have a link to whatever show and episode this conversation was pulled from, in case anyone wanted the context around it.

It shows at the end that this was an excerpt from Bombcast 714. It's only on the screen for like 5 seconds though, so easily missed. But for this particular moment, there is no context - Jeff's intro you hear in this video is the first thing mentioned about it on the podcast. Jan probably had it written down in their show notes document.

Jeff G being self-conscious about "using his clout" is a good thing. I've seen lesser internet personalities (for lack of a better term) try to throw their weight around at every chance, over incredibly small and petty things. It's pretty disgusting to see.
