I'm going to be diplomatic and say this video will be enjoyed by some paying subscribers and not useful to other paying subscribers, who can choose one of the thousands of other videos on the site rather than shake an imaginary jar with the 9 cents they paid for the day's worth of videos while acting like that's grounds for some kind of ultimatum. Miniature American flags for others. Forward, not backward. Upward, not forward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.

I know lots of people are bemoaning the lack of group videos but I love these weird top 5/10/whatever videos. This was perfect.

Every year this comment section is so apoplectic about not the results of these podcasts, but the podcasts themselves. Can always count on that, no matter the format of the awards.

Frankly, with West and East already having their own features and podcasts, I don’t know why they’ve never taken advantage and had dueling GOTY podcasts, each with whatever format the coast prefers, just for fun. Fewer people in each room, no one has to be homesick around the holidays for two weeks or even a week just to cram it all in, more room for creativity or weird/off-kilter formats and awards If it isn’t so deeply important to name a one true game of the year (which doesn’t matter all that much anyway). Could be fun, and then they could still find some time to gather as a whole crew and record some fun skits or whatever — just wouldn’t have to be everything all at once.

With that said, I want to just say while I don’t necessarily find the recap days exhilarating or anything (I wasn’t on the edge of my seat with the old format either, truth be told), I enjoy them as a proto-yearbook that reminds me to check out a few games I overlooked during the year. I don’t really need more than that. I certainly don’t need a return of all the people who feed off the previous format‘s transactional hostility and lose their minds in the comments as result, even if that’s managed to seep into these comments as well. (I regularly wonder what new visitors think when they see a Giant Bomb video and 85 percent of the comments are about the staff and not the games shown or discussed. Must be jarring!)

Lost it at “I don’t know” being the third answer for knife versus bat.

Re: The eternal disappointment of fitness games on console...

I wish more people had discovered Playstation Move Fitness, because I would love a followup on PS4/VR. It got everything perfectly right in terms of a good workout and non-frustrating motion control, but it's locked to the PS3 and probably forever will be. If you have a PS3 and Move wands, though, seek it out! Only $10!

@bartwux:Oh boy.

Look, I get the intention and perhaps even the point re: privacy, but this just reads like a take from someone who's never had to deal with losing someone this particular way. Ask anyone who's been there: Being around friends and being silly is one of the best blessings possible when enduring that kind of pain. So if you truly are concerned about well-being, fair enough, but you're off the mark here.

But when you tie it into the dreadful "I paid for this, therefore I can" line of reasoning, you just sound kinda monstrous. Paying the equivalent of between 9 and 13 cents a day for GB premium does not bestow some right to judge how people mourn, and couching your concerns with this conceit is in incredibly poor taste.

@rorie the way you wear your heart on your sleeve is one of my favorite, favorite things about this place. You're funny as hell, odd in wonderful ways, and so incredibly kind to others even when you're busting their chops. Everyone here should be lucky to have a friend like you. Very sorry for your heartbreak but very appreciative that you're using this moment to try and help others (both human and not). Hope your sweetheart loves her present. Stop apologizing so damn much in 2020, we love you here.

I legit don't understand how Dan doesn't know what a battle pass is by now.

I get the sense he knew what it meant -- but not just how crazy it is when you unlock one. (Which is something I bet a lot of us don't really know.)

@pokysharpy: My eyes glazed over at 'white privilege'....have fun with your guilt. Enjoy election night.

I like how you think it’s your politics that make you unwelcome here and not the foaming at the mouth tantrum you’re throwing. James Woods sucks for the same reason. It’s not his politics, it’s the fact that he’s a gigantic manchild who also continually peddles roundly debunked conspiracy bullshit. You enjoy election night too.
