@kunakai: Naw, I literally have seen discussions about keeping politics out of their games. No nuance. That said, they obviously didn't mean to make a plain no-point story. They just want the point or meaning to be in the background a la Mario vs in the foreground a la MGS. I'm wondering if there are fair reasons to placate those people successfully and if it even merits doing so. Are those people just susceptible to politics that they don't like? Everyone is at a certain level. I had some great discussions and find our community really isn't for, politics minimized or out as much as possible, and would rather the devs do what they want and we buy what we want. Let the dominos fall kinda thing.
In such a case I'd simply remind them that it's not really their (or our) call. (unless they're the ruler of an authoritarian nation or the developer/publisher of said game).
I've noticed a fair few Covid oriented games I'd rather didn't exist recently. Sweet f-all I can do about it so I tend to just sigh and ignore them. I think whoever you're referring to would probably feel less stress if they took such an approach (although I might be able to understand their torment when looking at it from that angle).
Given the lack of immunologists/epidemiologists likely to be present on a forum such as this I'm not sure you're going to get much insight into the issue.
Of course us normal citizens are against wars but politicians would always come up with excuses to make it feel okay. Which is why I hate politics.
Iraq and Afghanistan were both largely supported by normal citizens at the time.
Granted, the context of both is important. While the allegations against Iraq being untrue is important to the assessment I think Afghanistan being a matter of pure vengence (with little or no political spin required), is very much an indication of the people being for it.
(While I largely disagree with any war now my mind can be/has changed depending on the circumstances)
I'd argue for more politics generally. While I don't believe in such a thing as a fair and balanced view I do think many of the more interesting stories represent both sides of a debate in a sincere manner (which is something I find lacking in FC5/Watch Dogs Legion. Both could have been vastly better games if they featured discourse opposed to binary good team/bad team dynamic).
I kind of expect the game will find its way to most professional critics simply because of the controvery (comparible to the way Hatred received a lot of publicity due to controversy).
It's puzzling people seem so psyched about this game. It seems like a poor mans CoD from what I've seen.
