I'll say I have been burned more often by early access than by Electronic Arts. Some of my all time favorite games came out of Electronic Arts in the 80s and 90s, but these last 20 years have been kinda rough. Darkspore and C&C4 have been the only EA titles I've actually spent money on and felt incredibly disappointed by though, for the most part they've clearly advertised their products as something I don't want and thus just don't buy.
Conceptually I think early access has some promise, but after about 11 years of kickstarter, Minecraft and Steam EA I'm struggling to think of many games aside from Minecraft that really seemed to benefit from that model.
KSP, Satisfactory, Besige, ARK, Valheim, Dyson Sphere Program, Astroneer are all pretty phenomenal games.
I started playing Battlegroup VR a few days ago, an Early Access game made by one individual which feels more compelling than the majority of the VR experiences I've tried.
I've spent more time playing and enjoying Early Access games in general. over the last year the split has been between Satisfactory/Valheim/KSP vs replaying Mass Effect/Dragon Age Inquisition/Crysis/Squadrons.
As much as I'd regret any falling into a black hole I feel the thousands of hours enjoyment I've had with Early Access titles far outweighs the couple of hundred hours of enjoyment (and few dozen hours of bored fetch quests) I've experienced with EA.
Surely FFVII Remake would make for a more meaningful comparison for such pointless speculation? I mean, they're both highly rated and on the same platform?
In any case, given the questionable nature of the data sources I'm not entirely sure drawing conclusions is any more wise than it is interesting. (To make any kind of meaningful comparison we'd need like for like reliable data)
There's too much bias and favoritism when it comes to Sony and Microsoft. It's kind of sad. I will own all the systems But the notion that ms need to play nice is obscure. Noone says anything about Sony. I guess blind loyalty can do that.
Looks at title of thread... I agree. You're precisely half of the problem in regards to said bias though.
I see there's too many Sony fans on here. If this was the other way around. NONE of you guys would want Sony to put their games on xbox. Bias is real it seems.
As someone who doesn't intend to buy either next gen console I find this statement in poor taste given prior sentiment. I personally would like as many games on as many platforms as possible. (An end MS have moved towards and Sony recently started moving towards in recent times)
This console war business does little to help consumers ultimately.
On another note: Those who believe MS/Sony need to sell consoles right now seem to aknowledge the fact that they can sell more boxes with more exclusives but also seem to ignore the fact that selling boxes right now isn't particularly profitable.
From watching the stream today it seems like building is really rough or else the crew was just showing it off poorly cause things just did not snap into place like they do in modern builders.
Parts only snap when oriented correctly. A roof section will only snap when pointed in the same direction as the prior roof section/wall. It takes a little getting used to but it becomes intuitive after a few hours.
