  • In Progess

Sometimes you just want a vast open world to get lost in.

  • And so the trilogy ends, and what a ride it has been.

I didn't care for the non-linear progression as it was difficult to put the timeline in prospective, but for plot reasons I can understand why they it was done this way. The further you went into the game, the harder it was to figure when and where you were.

I can't say I was entirely satisfied with how it wrapped up, but again, what a ride it was.

  • In Progess

Sometimes you just want to crawl through a dungeon.

  • Firmware update bricked my TV. Working on Conquest until support gets back to me.

My level ups have been terrible and forward progress has been slow.

  • Messed around with it one night when I needed a break from Valhalla. PS5 update is out now so looks like I'll have to restart. Plan to spend more time with it after Valhalla is done.

  • Time for the yearly check in. Got a few more 5 star characters and worked through Book Four.

  • I had planned to finish this one eventually, but its imminent removal from Game Pass sped up the timeline considerably.

Alvastia is not a bad game, but it's not really a good one either. The interactions between the main cast often go on far too long and get far too creepy. You also get 100 characters to fill 9 slots and the vast majority of these characters get no more than a few lines of dialogue.

The gacha elements of its mobile game roots are there but don't really do much other than put useful things behind a paywall. The game gives you some currency at the beginning which I used to pull 2 extra characters and some fairly strong weapons that broke a good chunk of the game.

  • True Trophies Community Event BATH 2.

It's been a few years since I've attempted one of their events, so I thought I'd give Bonkers Arbitrary Trophie Hunt 2 a try. 30 trophies have been selected from amongst all my started games and I must unlock 15 of them to complete the challenge.

    1) Resident Evil 6 - Give a Little Push

Starting off easy. An early Chris checkpoint gives the perfect setup to shove 10 enemies off a ledge.

    2) Grow Home - Brundle-meep

Not sure how I missed this trophy when I played Grow Home a few years ago. Took me longer to download the game than it did to drag a meep to a teleporter.

    3) Borderlands 2 - Urban Explorer

I remember making it Sanctuary and questing in the vicinity, but not much more than that, so I was expecting to have to advance the story to Opportunity. Thankfully, playing Fight for Sanctuary created an endgame save and I was able to easily travel to Lynchwood and Opportunity.

    4) Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin - Change of Clothes

This is generally not an early game trophy, however, the required item can be bought in an early area for a mere 12,000 souls. Not a small amount, but I was making good progress until I died twice and lost 6k souls. Ouch.

While looking at good starting builds I came across the Dragonrider cheese strategy. With 0 souls on hand, it seemed worth a try. It was surprisingly easy to execute and I was awarded exactly 12k souls. Hooray.

    5) Rogue Legacy - Aurophilia

I am not good at Rogue Legacy. It requires patient and methodical play; carefully picking and choosing your battles. I can't help but try to clear every room.

It took many tries to first find a mini-boss room and then actually beat the mini-bosses. Much relief when I finally triumphed.

    6) Resonance of Fate HD - The Iron Fist

Kind of an annoying trophy. Resonance of Fate combat is focused on running and gunning. Melee combat just doesn't work very well. I often found myself just out of range. Still, it didn't take that long to grind out 30 kills.

    7) Shining Force Resonance Refrain - Hit Maker

It can easily be done with an end game aspect that reduces damage to 1, but there is an opportunity to rack up the 100 hits against a certain chapter 2 enemy. I had just finished chapter 2 last time I played, so I was still in a perfect spot to give it a try.

I kept dropping combo halfway through (probably didn't help I hadn't played in 4 years) and even lost an 88 and 96 combo, but it didn't take too long to finally put together the required 100 hits.

    8) Rogue Galaxy - The Great Escape

It looked easy from the description; simply finish Chapter Four and I had a late Chapter Three save. However, rust, enemies packing a nasty punch, money and healing items going fast, and any random encounter a potential game over made it more of a challenge than I thought. I may have also been underleveled, considering Lilika joined the party 3 levels above everyone else.

    9) Contract Thriller - Agents of Mayhem

A pretty bad trophy I spent way too much of the month working on. You'll never see enough of the required tasks to make progress during casual play and most people who join the challenge expect to get carried or just give up. Jokes on them because if you log off, you don't get credit if someone actually manages to finish it!

    10) Deity in Love - Asdivine Hearts

I had a save about 10 hours in, and while not as short as the previous Kemco games I've played, it's still fairly short for an RPG. Just needed to reach the true final boss and trigger Felix's ending.

    11) Finished Chapter Five - Omega Quintet

I restarted since I missed a side quest in Chapter 1. Things went pretty quickly until I reached Chapter 5 and the number of side quests ballooned. In the interest of time I just blew through the main questline and left a save at the beginning of the chapter should I ever wish to finish this.

    12) Birds and Bees - Dark Cloud 2

Another trophy in a PS2 game that could be unlocked early on, but somehow took forever because I underestimated the difficulty level and/or personal rust at the game. Once again early enemies pack a nasty punch and your weapons start weak. Just as I was actually starting to get used to combat, I was suddenly given enough materials to build an aquarium. I was supposed to start rebuilding Sindain, but I had other prioties.

    13) Mission Master - Final Fantasy Type-0 HD

Just run 15 missions and replaying the first mission from the title screen totally counts. Didn't take that long.

    14) The Nightmare Ends - Resident Evil

A bit of a gamble as only had 2 (work) days to play through the entirety of Chris's campaign and get the best ending. I played on easy to speed things along, but the true enemy proved to be the fixed camera angle.

    15) With Our Powers Combined - Mass Effect: Andromeda

All I had to do was follow up PeeBee's Pull with a move that caused a detonation, but PeeBee did not seem to want to use Pull. After a lot of wandering and a lot of dying, I finally got the 10th combo.

    BATH complete.

    Trophies I didn't go for.

    16) Micolash, Host of Nightmare - Bloodborne

    17) The House of Splendor - Salt and Sanctuary

    Late game Souls trophies. Pass.

    18) Perfectionist - Warriors Orochi 4

    19) You'll have to search the whole world! - One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3

Not just one, but two different trophies asking for all S rank in every stage. I love me some musou games, but not that much.

    20) Sole Survivor - Tomb Raider - Definitive Edition

    21) Exo Flip - Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

    22) No Man Left - Call of Duty: Ghosts

I missed these games when I was editing the pull list and so I ended up with 3 multiplayer achievements. Tomb Raider might not have been that bad.

    23) Friends on the Force - Yakuza 7

This was a mistake. I didn't null the PS4 version of the game. Oops.

    24) Ruined Memory - Romancing SaGa 2

    25) Almost There - Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster

    26) A Knack for Stacks - Tales of Zestiria

Late game RPG trophies that I didn't think I had time for.

    27) Dream Piece Collector - Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance

I beat the game and have no idea what these are. That didn't bode well for the grind. Of course, I could have had all but one (but I doubt it).

    28) ☆SHOPPING☆ - Touhou Genso Wanderer

Just steal an item from the shop. Sounds easy, but with a ration of 4.47, I'm guessing the shopkeeper is very good at making you dead first.

    29) Practice Makes...? - Disgaea 5

I pushed hard for this one, reaching 5-2 from stage 2-2. Enemy level was starting to jump faster than my own levels and the need to grind was growing stronger. I opted to push through Resident Evil instead. Learning how to grind efficiently and doing it probably would have been faster, but I Resident Evil was probably more fun.

    30) Challenge from Plachta - Atelier Sophie

This probably would have been an easy one as I actually have an end game save, but I haven't touched the game since it crashed after I spent an entire day trying to make broken weapons and I hadn't saved.
