I leave the PC on overnight (not the monitor), and the TV on standby, but that's usually it as far as being too wasteful. Things are unplugged usually just so I don't worry about it overloading the strip or something. Hate to say it, but when you're a 20-something with limited income you do most power-saving things out of a sense of frugality rather than environmental conservation (though I suppose the end result is the same either way).

I'm pretty sure electrical equipment like TVs and computers have various recycling options at one's local dump. As well as harmful chemicals, circuit boards tend to be full of valuable materials that can be used again elsewhere. I mean, you could always take the classic route of taking an insolent printer out into a field and smashing it to pieces with baseball bats and drop kicks, but most people should make the effort to drop them off at an official council-run dump of some kind.

"I learned about PSeG's graphs from some rumor. You hear a lot of fishy stories like that on the force."

I wonder if this'll be the one to break the 4000 curse. A lot of buzz around this game, so I'm guessing there's a good chance.

I'm guessing the free stuff they're promising will show up after the store's fully back on track. It sounds like the bandwidth use is going to be hectic enough.

Same boat as some of these guys; I've played it but not extensively, and not to to its conclusion. I had a similar time trying to get into System Shock 2, which wasn't terribly dissimilar. I have an unfortunate habit of becoming distracted with the larger PC games, possibly because I use the PC for so many other things and if I'm not playing games in long spurts my attention wanders. Probably not a good sign.

Talking of pseudo RPGs for PC I never beat, I should really get around to Anachronox again. But then I just know I'll lose interest again when Democratus and Stiletto join and there's too many people to switch around for item-hunting. That game deserves way better than my ADD-addled ass.

I can see what you mean about it being overwhelming. As usual, I'll skip pretty much all of it and just listen to the GB podcast summations. I assume almost the whole team are going? It'd be the only way to see most of it.

There's something backwards about a Quest involving Brink looking like a failure right up until the deadline, whereupon it becomes a success.

Did all these places hire Fisher Stevens for their computer security or something?

Dunno if this has been said, but I'm not sure why AnimeVice can't get cannibalized by Screened and ComicVine (which get all the anime and manga wiki articles respectively), with anything too esoteric or non-localized getting scrapped in the split. I think the only reason it's still on life support is that no-one wants to see the many hours of typing and research spent creating those wiki articles lost in time like tears in the rain.

Screened could use the boost, and it's not like Pinchuk doesn't write a lot of articles there already. ComicVine I don't particularly know a lot about, but half the comic shelves in bookstores these days seem to be those Shonen Jump type manga serials. Is AnimeVice there just so neither of those sites have to deal with Japanophiles?

500,000 people bought an iPhone game for charity's sake? That's a lot of touching gestures.

I was always more of an Elite guy back in the day. Bit more recent than Star Raiders I suppose, but I sank so much time into the Atari ST version it's not even funny. Thargoids out the wazoo.

It does seem a bit off that they'd take all the sim elements out. Like the slightly more in-depth space sim shooter isn't still a genre of some repute, if those X and DarkStar 1 type games are any indication.

On a final note, 'grats on getting a shoutout in the QL for your work on that page. Coming so soon after your Community Starlet feature. Everything's coming up Milhouse?
