Instead of introducing a new, godlike character/deus ex machina in the last five minutes of the game that nullifies your previous 120+ hours of gameplay and torpedoes all of Shepard's established behavior patterns, they will be introducing it in the last six minutes.

Kidding aside, I really do hope this extended cut is a bit better. I still can't believe the same studio that released some of my favorite games in history thought ME3 was up to their standard.

Yes, Apple... you've won yet another round. Take my money and deliver unto me your precious bounty. I shall receive it and lavish praise upon you. Amen.

Kurt Sutter plays games and genuinely seems to care about their quality. A while back on Twitter he tweeted at Rockstar that they'd better not fuck up Max Payne 3 (his words) because he's realllly looking forward to it.

Whether or not this ultimately translates into a good SOA game is a whole other issue, but at least we can feel confident knowing that this guy actually gives a crap about gaming.

Also, September can not get here fast enough... I need more Sons of Anarchy on my TV right NOW!

If we didn't occasionally lose our shit while playing video games, we wouldn't be human. That being said, good on you for being the kind of guy who felt bad about about this particular word and wanted to be up front and apologize.

Anyways ME3 is awesome. Endings were fine. End of story. It's all about the journey not the destination.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you there.

For me, if I ate an absolutely sumptuous meal but the last spoonful tasted terrible, it couldn't help but negatively color my impression of the meal as a whole seeing as that final spoonful of filth would have been the penultimate moment of the meal and the element which lingered on as a foul taste in my mouth.

That being said, I honestly envy that you can separate the two. For me, however, it's just not possible.

Come on, Patrick, he hadn't even finished the game. Talking to him might be an interesting intellectual exercise, but considering the starting point of the entire conversation was the ending of Mass Effect 3 it would seem reasonable that you both at least have had that common frame of reference to draw from.

I don't mind a chatty/discussion format article, I just think if you'd both finished the game you might have been able to examine the larger criticisms of the ending which have been echoed in this thread ad nauseum. I expect it would result in a very interesting article.

I am 20 hours in - enjoying the game mostly.

People are crazy?!

I love the "I haven't beaten it yet and I don't get the anger" comments.

Just wait, you'll see.

My wife and I finished the game late last night and went to bed trying to characterize our feelings toward the end of the trilogy. I've never minded high-concept science fiction endings, or even open-ended conclusions that leave one really *thinking* about the meanings and consequences of what was just experienced. I particularly enjoy a lot of the bleaker, dystopian science fiction films of the last 60's to early 70's for this particular reason.

However, in spite of that, I was left feeling unsettled with the conclusion of Mass Effect 3. After spending some more time thinking, and doing some reading about what others have written on the subject, I believe the following article ultimately touches on what probably caused my uneasiness (obviously there are SPOILERS so anyone who hasn't finished the game should WAIT to read it):

http://www.gamefront.com/mass-effect-3-ending-hatred-5-reasons-the-fans-are-right

Please don't let the seemingly polarizing nature of the article's title put you off. It's a very concise examination of a lot of the issues that many people are trying wrestle with in terms of the ending. I think it is well worth reading and then discussing further.

EDIT: To be clear, up until the ending I absolutely loved the game. I wouldn't dream of returning it. My post is more just a reflection in writing of my own struggle with the ending.
