@hostyl1: I appreciate your reply, and I guess that illustrates the gap between probably most people watching this, to whom all of this is old news, and me, who has never seen any of this one. Maybe my real problem is that it's hard to forget the train wreck that is 4. If I could toggle off my memory of their first and only trans character dead-naming herself (maybe the first time you meet her?), again I didn't play it myself, it would have been easier to take this in stride.
As someone who never played 3 due to it being on Origin and the fact that I made an arbitrary decision about that a long time ago, I cannot help but notice that the crescendo of this sidequest is the basically meaningless immolation of (if I recall the previous Mass Alex 3s correctly, which perhaps I do not) the only arguably-queer presenting major female character we've met so far. Likely the "main justification" for this was to avoid having to generate assets for her to participate as a sidekick in the rest of the game, but gross?? I stopped watching there and it wasn't Alex or Vinny's fault at all, I guess I'm just disappointed because overall it seemed like the writing had somewhat improved between 2 and 3 as it arguably did between 1 and 2. Great job as usual, Bioware. I'll probably watch the next episode of Mass Alex in any event, good series.
@nasher27: I hate to say this, but I think you're seeing it. Jeff Gerstmann really is the kind of person who would prioritize tea time with his dead rat over gasping at the scenic vistas that Valve Corporation lovingly designed with him specifically in mind. And Vinny Caravella really is the kind of person who, well, at this point have you been paying attention to Vinny? Having to plan out that level of madness for over a decade that we know of as a facade would really make Occam's beard stand on end.
This game seems not quite as good as Mega Man 3 DOS, recently demonstrated at AGDQ by the uncontrollable Lizstar. That's a shame, some of these ports really set a high bar.
This video is also further evidence that Party of One is rad, even if it is something Jeff already routinely did but rebranded. I guess Party of One is if anything a generalization of Jeff's longtime antics.
This was awesome. I hope Party of One becomes a major GiantBomb feature! Watching someone dive into exactly their own thing has a kind of glow to it that Quick Looks, hilarious though they may often be, inherently do not.
@humanity: Why do you care enough about whether Rorie beats a Sekiro boss on what is essentially a video podcast to make an unkind remark about one of the people on said podcast, who you presumably don't personally detest? I admit I used to get frustrated at people "playing badly" in videos, but let me share with you the epiphany that I had: you don't have to watch that part if you find it annoying, and you might even find that it isn't important enough to qualify as annoying to begin with.
