I not sure whether to laugh or just stare in disbelief.

Demos are basically advertisements. You should be glad that people even bother to watch your ad / play your demo ...

Next they will be limiting the number of times you can watch the video trailers you download from them.

Not getting the hate for this game either ...

Played WoW for 3-4 years, burnt out on it about a year ago.

TOR looks interesting, It's basically WoW with more story and at the same time something "new" - there is only so much you can take of the WoW universe and it's increasingly nonsensical lore. No one has any "real" complains about it either.

But I won't be getting into it with it's $60 startup cost. I'm just not as big a gamer as I used to be. I'm getting too old for this shit.

PS: As someone else in this thread has already mentioned. $200 million dollars and they can't port the client to the Mac?

So?

I laughed.

And I just ate my mother's below average cooking for dinner.

See I can use the forums as Twitter too. :)

No games that would push hardware. No Mario, Pokemon, and in Japan no Monster Hunter

The 3DS didn't have much games to "push hardware" available at launch either. Heck, during launch it didn't have much games at all. Period.

The PSV has a way better launch line up, by far, no matter how you cut it. This is something Sony has done right.

Overpriced memory cards

So? Unless you are planning to download most of your games, you are only going to need one. Most cartridge based game don't even need it.

The cheapest memory card go for $20 dollars.

You know what else cost $20 dollars?

The hideous add-on for the 3DS that runs off a AAA battery, bloats the size of the 3DS by 30%, which exist solely to fix an oversight by Nintendo when they rushed the 3DS out, that you need so you can play games like MH properly.

I definitely want Persona 4, but look like it isn't going to make the launch line up.

That said, Dynasty Warriors Next looks interesting. I have never played a Dynasty Warriors game before, now could be the time to start.

Shinobido is also something that interest me. I have seen videos of it, it takes place in ancient Japan an intriguing setting to me but don't know if I can handle the action based game play - I have the reflexes of a turtle.

We will see.

Depending on the condition of my wallet and whether I'm in the need of "retail therapy" come Feb, I may or may not get it on launch day. But I will get it eventually, Persona 4 more or less sold it to me.

I have to say I don't blame you.

I too am fairly disappointed that the game mechanics of the genres I like have not evolved much - or have (de)evolved into something that is just plain not fun eg. FF.

Everyone is afraid to try new things nowadays due to development cost. While indie games do try "new things", they are often poorly turned - probably due to manpower constraints - and focus too much on the "novelty" of their unique mechanic / technology and are hence not fun.

Yakuza 4.

It's sort of an JRPG, good story telling - better than the FFXIII's "story" anyhow.

There are the Atelier series of games, the 2nd I'm in the middle of playing now, while a little low budget it seem alright.

sorry I have to say it since no one else is.. Yakuza 4 is not a Jrpg.. Its an action game with only the leveling of 4 skills that has anything to do with rpg elements.

But the game is very good though :D as I am playing it atm since I finally found it New and for only 10$. A good Jrpg though that I just recently bought and started playing is Hyperdimension Neptunia. It has a pretty interesting story and well.. since you like Jrpg's you will obviously like the characters / voice acting. AND!!! any of the disgaea series as they do have rpg elements (Think FF tactics) with very likeable characters and good music. Other then that, just go to amazon and look up ps3 games and flip through till you find a Jrpg then look at what they have that is similar to it.. Its how i find games even if I dont buy them from the site.

Details, details ...

:p

I mean it kind of feels like one. You "role-play" characters like you do in every other JRPG, you have levels, you have gear and you have skills to put points in - mini-games to waste time on too. You also do a lot of wondering around, there are "random mob encounters" and there are plenty of "quests" for you to do. It can more or less be considered an Action-JRPG.

Anyway if you enjoy games with good story telling and characterization - that most good JRPG have - then chances are you will enjoy Yakuza 4, hence my recommendation.

@NaCl: How is this like MGS 5? Did the story say he definitely left? No. All it was reporting was a rumor popped up and there's no concrete answer yet.

If you can't confirm something, STFU until you can. It's simple.

Really, I don't want GiantBomb to become a sensationalist rumor mill tabloid like Destructiod. That is all.

Didn't buy this game so I have no beef with the developers.

But just wanted to say,

You would thinking with nearly half a dozen major games under their belt, they would have gotten their software engineering right already. No other game developer releases games that are this buggy and in general this "technically fucked up" - game after game after game.

Seriously.

obviously you dont understand bethesda. This is how they work. This is what makes them a top developer. This is why people buy their stuff day 1 even though there will be glitches Everywhere. So if a company can make games consistently with glitches and still sell millions of copies then all I can say to you is FAILLLLLL on your little rant post that you have no say in the matter as you have yet to even buy the game.

But on the patch, I have yet to see a difference during the game at all so I didn't even know there was a patch already :D

Say what you want man, it's still "FAILLLLLL", "Software Engineering FAILLLLLL" to be precise.

How many fucking years have they been developers? I can excuse them if they were just starting out, but Bethesda aren't newbies to the craft.

Good lord. If their current set of programmers are inept at low-level programming, hire some that know WTF they are doing. It's not as if they can't afford it - they are a major developer that racks in billions of dollars. There is no excuse.

PS: I suggest you don't defend their half-ass technical work just because you are a fanboy of their stuff. It will only encourage them to release more buggy games in the future.
