This situation fits sexism perfectly, and towards both women and men at that. Fitting under the categories of objectification and misandry. Secondly, no one has the right to never be offended, but they do have the right to be offended and to voice their displeasure with the way they are being portrayed by a person or a company.

How the hell can you quote Stephen Fry to defend sexism? Mind blown.

I was way more surprised by the nudity in the Far Cry 3 demo without any warning or disclaimer. Wasn't Spike broadcasting that live? I can only wonder what the ramifications might be. I'm totally desensitized to cussing though.

Live TV in the United States hasn't been live for almost a decade now. All live broadcasts are required to have at least a 5 second delay.

Well then who screwed up with Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl?

That's why there is no longer 'live' TV anymore.

I remember G4 or Spike trying to censor stuff last year and failing horribly. They would catch a shit or ass but completely missed fuck multiple times. I'm sure they got flak for it and really tried to catch everything this year.

Wasn't there also something about delaying 'news'(quotation marks, because a car chase is barely newsworthy). A car chase where somebody shot his own head off without delay.

Even the FCC can't do anything about that because of freedom of press, but commercial sponsors and the public may pressure networks into doing something about it on their own. FCC only has authority over broadcast radio and television and only from 6am-10pm. Cable TV and network tv after 10pm(although they have to be careful about west coast time zone) are free to do what they want as long as they don't break obscenity laws(which are material far worse than indecency or profanity.)

Also, they don't regulate stations to use delays, they only respond to complaints and fine when the complaints have merit in their eyes. Stations choose to use delays out of fear of fines and commercial sponsor and public outrage.

It's also cable tv which is isn't regulated by the FCC. Typically channels self censor themselves during the day to keep themselves from getting focused on by lawmakers, but there are cable channels like comedy central and FX that sometimes show uncensored shows including swearing and nudity at night.

Did Kingdoms of Amalur undersell versus expectations?

Rich gallup actually said on his twitter it out performed EA's expectations, sold something like 1.3 million in 90 days.

Exactly, in what universe is a new RPG IP expected to sell 3 million copies! They just way overspent and overhired without getting enough financial backing for such a huge project as their MMO.

People that say "its just a beta" crack me up. This is no beta. This is a free demo for people to get their dicks hard in anticipation for the full game.

The game comes out in about 25 days.

Im not saying that they wont make changes when it releases because of course they will, but what we see is pretty much what we will get on the first run of the game.

They need to start pressing discs soon if they havent already.

Pretty much, it's a stress test. But pretty much the only thing set in stone are the looks of the characters monsters and environments. Patches over the next 10 years will eventually tweak all numbers, add new items, quests, change skills, etc.

Can we just go full digital Steam style already? Forgo all this nonsense.

No. Better to have these headaches than to have publishers able to take games away whenever they like.

I'm all for total digital and don't buy disc copies of pc games, but I have to agree that consoles should still have the option of disc based games, especially considering PS and MS weird pricing that for the most part put Downloadable retail games at a higher price than the same disc based game.

Consoles seem to make their new generations of hardware incompatible with past generations for good reason (keeping system prices below inflation). People who will want to go back and play those older games only have to worry about publishers releasing broken games that need patches to work properly in order to be future xbla/psn shutdown proof.

But as far as the pc goes, I just consider my hard drive as one big disc to hold all my games. Once steam is gone, I can still play my steam games, and can still currently play games through steam that steam doesn't sell on their service anymore. Although I may have to worry if one day after steam shuts down, I need to transfer my stuff onto a new pc. Hopefully I'm not screwed in that case.

Separate girl tournaments don't exclude girls from participating in regular tournaments, they just give a place free of the typical idiots to have some fun. You could hold a men-only tournament if you wanted, but thats 99% of them anyways and you'd come off looking like a jerk.
