Thomas Jefferson nearly doubled the land mass of the United States with the stroke of a pen through the Louisiana Purchase ($15,000,000).  Additionally, as a proponent of an individual's liberty, he repealed the Alien and Sedition Acts and Midnight Judges Act, which have sadly all but been revived through the Patriot Act. The Alien and Sedition Acts removed due process from an immigrants rights, and the Midnight Judges Act allowed the President to appoint judges to federal courts without Congressional approval or oversight.   Additionally, it was under Jefferson's term that conversations regarding the banning of the slave trade began.  A compromise was reached in 1808 which banned the trade but required the government to send back any slaves smuggled into free states back to their state of ownership.

Since the announcement of Lost Planet 2 appeared on XBL, I'd be willing to bet there will be another timed exclusivity deal between Capcom and Microsoft on that title, and probably Dead Rising 2, as well.  I'm not sure how Bioware is likely to handle Mass Effect 2.  For me, I have a "Commander Shepard" already on my Xbox, and since it's been hinted that we'll be able to import our saved character in some sense, a PS3 version has no use for me.  I think it makes sense for Bioware to release a "expanded" version of the original for the PS3 (include the DLC) a few months before the sequel hits the shelves, then put it out on both consoles.  Most sales will likely go to the Xbox, but why lose the potential sales from the Sony crowd?

I'd like for Bioware to fix the things that bugged me like no "teleporting" back to the ship to swap out team members (you could do that in KOTOR!) and some way to better keep track of all the gear you carry.  Some way to upgrade the APV would be nice too, 'cause I hated the missions with that thing.  Additionally, how about being able to use a weapon you are untrained in, but at a much lower skill level?  Why is my "vanguard" carrying around a assault rifle and sniper rifle if she can never use them?  And why does it seem that other people in my group who are also untrained, seem to be able to use them?  Is that just a cut scene thing, 'cause if it is, Bioware needs to fix that.  Finally, I'd like to be able to talk to others in my group while in the elevators.  I expect loading will once again be covered over by elevator travel, so during those extended periods, the ability to say "Hey, what do you think about what's going on?" would be nice.

I'm a rebel, I'm not wearing pants right now!

"Where the #$%@ are your priorities, man?"
"Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to be the most retardedly obnoxious looking people on the planet."
"Got my #$%@’ Gameboy and my #$%@’ cookie and OH #$%@ THIS IS JUST TOO MUCH AWESOME AT ONCE I THINK I JUST CAME."

Hilarious! (yeah, I edited the captions here a bit)

For those not wanting to have to log into XBL to see the video, you can go here http://gamersyde.com/stream_10179_en.html for a subtitled HD version or here http://kotaku.com/5158575/lost-planet-2-the-trailer or just watch this Youtube Japanese-language version (the trailer itself is in English, though...)

I'm not sure everyone was clamoring for this sequel, but it does look sweet.  And, might be it hinting of 4 player co-op play by the squad-based action in the video.

Me, too.  I think it was one of the better looking Oscar shows.  I liked the stage design and thought Hugh Jackman did a fine job as host.  He reminded me of the old Billy Crystal shows with his opening number.  I didn't like the "past winners tell everyone how great the nominees are" parts, though.  The Oscars are already a giant handjob to the acting community as is, without having to endure more congratulatory gratification.

At first, I was miffed that my choices were being passed over, but upon further reflection, I don't, as of yet, have the knowledge to make those arguments...and, truth be told, I don't really care what the results are.  I've seen a lot of past winners and were bored to tears by too many of them.  As I've stated before, my personal tastes are contrary to that of most critics and the Academy.  I like to come away from a movie feeling good, not depressed or moody or whatever films like Milk or The Reader are meant to evoke.  I'm really interested in Happy-go-Lucky and have it on my Netflix queue.

The not all of the ones I've listed are graphically gory, but they do fall into the horror and comedy genres.  Also, I had a good time with them.

Kinda sucks how its only the terrorists that have the greatest impact, eh?
I would argue that through history, that is not true.  Jesus Christ, Siddhartha, the prophet Mohammed, Johannes Gutenberg, Peter Henlein, John Harrison, James Watt, Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, Henry Ford, Columbus, Aristotle, Issac Newton, Charles Darwin, Ts'ai Lun, John Locke, Adam Smith, Martin Luther, Ghandi, Alexander Graham Bell, Descartes, and the folks who invented the wheel, discovered fire and initiated crop rotation all have had a stronger, longer lasting influence on the daily quality of peoples lives than those of political leaders, good or bad.
