I don't mind the changes, but I agree the text is harder to read. The gray lettering against the black background is the worst of these changes. One blends into the other so much so that unless I am actively searching for the script, I won't notice it's there.
Nice read. I'd be very excited if what you outlined actually came to fruition. However, forgive me for being a pessimist, but I think Sony will make only minimal changes to the PSP1 and call it the PSP2.
While I wholeheartedly agree with you, BiG_Weasel, and like MattBodega, would like Giant Bomb to be a place for more articulate conversation, I believe your appeal will fall on deaf ears. The most egregious of members will likely ignore you, and continue to lower the standards of the site. I choose to ignore them, as best I can. If I see a post without capital letters, no punctuation, or "elite" speak, in my mind, whatever the writer has to say isn't worth my time. If they don't care enough to try and use reasonable communication skills, then their opinions are likely equally worthless. Now, I am not above making the occasionaly typographical mistake. I don't hold those against anyone. Even a grammatical error is okay, if the intentions are honest. Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone, and all that. But, what can we do? The people who actively violate the points you've outlined above, don't give a rat's ass what anyone else says. In fact, I think they enjoy irritating everyone else. Being a moron is cool.
Have we all really become such graphical whores that the differences between these two games becomes such a point of contention? Really?! It's like debating whether having sex with your sister or cousin is more fun. The minutia is hardly worth mentioning. Enjoy them both!
Blah-blah-blah...No two analog sticks, no care. On the other hand, it seems that Sony has failed to widely market yet another media format. Betamax, minidisc, Sony memory stick, and now UMD. I hope they have more luck with the long-term life of Blu-ray. I think they will, considering Hollywood is onboard, but you never know.
I wonder what colors the new PSP2 will debut in. Black, for certain, but something more imaginative would be nice, too. I also wonder if any of the other rumors I've heard are true, like the possible touch screen and the slide out QWERTY keyboard.
When I watched it, I thought of the John Lennon "bigger than Jesus" controversy, but I think the following more closely applies to the creator of your posted video...
Shepard wakes up in the bed somewhere unfamiliar. A woman in a lab coat walks up to her and says "Ah, I see that you are awake now." She looks down at a medical chart and adds, "You gave us all quite a scare." Shining a pen light into Shepards eyes, she asks, "How much do you remember?" The expression on Shepard's face changes from confusion to panic...for you see, she has...AMNESIA (dum-dum-dummm!)
Toss in some "enemies become friends", "who do I trust", "reconstruct my identity", badda-bing-badda-bang -- the rest writes itself.
Looking at your list of completed games, Bad Company is probably your best bet for fun. I played it on the PS3 so I can't speak to how the achievements play out. GB recommends the new 50 Cent game, I should add.
If you are looking for easy "nerd" points, don't forget the Avatar game.
