The correct answer is Wii U. PS4 and X-Box One can eat a dick. And this is coming from someone who used to love Sony and Microsoft systems. It's sad to see what they've become. But yeah, get a Wii U. Far cheaper, and IMO, better games.
I can think of a few 10/10 games, but only one 12/10 game, and that game is Super Mario 64. There has never been a better game, nor will there ever be a better game.
So, I wanted to look back on the 7th Generation of video games by talking about our least favorite game systems from that era. But it will be a positive discussion, as we will talk about our favorite exclusives for that system.
The Xbox 360 was easily my least favorite system last generation. But I'll be damned if it didn't have some great games. The Halo series was as strong as ever on the 360, and Reach may be my favorite game in the series. The multiplayer was fucking amazing, and I loved the class based system. Flying a jetpack was so fun! I think this may be my favorite FPS ever. Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 were amazing zombie FPSes, and featured some of the best co-op on the planet. Seriously, if you don't work together with your team, you will die. Crackdown and Crackdown 2 were simply awesome open world sandbox games. They actually managed to feel different from GTA with their futuristic setting and focus on action over story. In fact, I may prefer Crackdown to GTA. Where is our Crackdown 3?
Donkey Kong 64 is an awesome game, I don't care what anyone says. While reception at the time was positive, nowadays, you see a plethora of fat, sweaty, basement dwelling neckbeards on the internet complaining about collecting shit, and then proceed to completely ignore the good aspects of this game. First of all, I love collecting. A platformer without collecting is like baseball without bats. Also, the game is absolutely huge. Large ass levels, five different characters each with their own set of moves, a bunch of weapons and powerups, Jetpac and DK Arcade, this game was stunning. The fact that this came out on the N64 is amazing, and definitely pushed the hardware to its limits. The music is great. It features some of the best graphics on the system. This game is the shit.
Also, I hope Yooka-Laylee ushers in a 3D Platformer Renaissance. That would be awesome. It's sad to see my favorite genre pretty much dead outside of Mario and Sonic.
I know everyone else hates it, but I actually enjoy NES Baseball. Mutant League Football on Genesis is also pretty fun. So is Blitz The League, though nowhere near as good as NFL Blitz.
Since Yooka-Laylee has been taking the gaming world by storm, I decided to celebrate by creating a tribute thread to my all time favorite genre of games. In the "Games That Made Your Jaw Drop" thread, I already mentioned how awe inspiring Super Mario 64 was. I love the other 3D Mario games, too. Is it just me that prefers Sunshine over Galaxy, though? Also, Banjo-Kazooie is fantastic. It uses the same engine a SM64, but adds its own spin to it. I'll talk about more later, including the underrated (in terms of criticism rather than sales) Donkey Kong 64.
