Oblivion = OrderedAs I ordered Oblivion from prizerebel yesterday I thought back to myself, "since when do I like RPG's?" I remember playing some Dark Alliance, Baulders Gate but thats about as much role playing as I did. Then I remembered a little game called Stick RPG . You play as a stick figure, and you have two main stats, strength and charm. You can build up those stats by doing incredibly simple task.
It truly is probably the most simple RPG in the world, but I found myself playing hours of it a few years ago. It is just as addictive as any other RPG and I really think I liked it so much because I was young, and I got it. There was no complicating text, or missions to do. You simply got money, by clicking a "work" button. And got stregth, by pressing a "go to the gym button" I could go on explaining the game, but just realize that it was extremely simple.
The only thing that worries me about oblivion is the time aspect. I'm not a guy that can usually play a game for 70 hours. Their needs to be something that can keep me going. And I hope oblivion, has that something. I've heard great things about the game, and can only hope to like it as much as some of you.
Other stuff, you most likely didn't notice, but I changed myself from Microsoft aligned, to neutral. When I was on the forums, I didn't want to come as a fanboy, and thats the reason I did it.

I absolutely agree with Jeff about geometry wars. He said that the game loses its addiction level, when you go back to play it, and you can't even beat your own scores. I mind myself really trying to beat the scores that I posted the first night, but just can't seem to do it. I was so concentrated that first night, and I did fairly well. (for me) Now when I get bored of COD4 I try to go back and play it, but just plain can't because there is nothing more frustrating, then getting worse at a game, not getting better.
Which is the reason I bought Braid. Ill post thoughts on that when I beat it. O and just putting it out there. Im looking for 3 other people to play Castle Crashers with me when it comes out. Anyone want to play?
I've been wanting to get good at photoshop for around 6 months now. I've messed around on Gimp, but I could never really figure out how it all worked. Instead of making DJ's about me picgood looking pictures, I'd just shrink artwork of games, and make that my banner. I've always wanted to get good, and watched a lot of tutorials on youtube. But something was always holding me back from making an actual cool pic. Then I guess it all just came together. I got the motivation from DJ's page. The pic in his about me section was amazing. I asked him how he got the characters to look so good, with the background. He gave me a couple short tips, and a good site to get renders. And then I just started messing around.
I made a cool flame background. Looked like this. I figured that was an ok start. I planed to add Marcus Fenix with Cog tags, then one of master chief. So I found the renders I wanted them, but had trouble making them the right size. Two hours later, and a handful of cuss words, I finished. I know its not perfect. But I was very proud of myself. And it will stay in my profile until I make a better one. Here it is.Flames

Sometime last week I posted a video song, making fun of the ps3. Just to be fair to all my friends that are ps3 owners, I decided to add this xbox 360 song. Its a video reply to that ps3 video. Its pretty good, but doesn't make as many good points imo. And he tries to take on halo...bad idea. Yes the exclusives he says are cool, but they still don't beat 360's new exclusives. Actually I take that back. Im going to but more though into it before I say a system has won the exclusive war. Heres the vid

2nd Prestige I just realized that I don't think I've actually "blogged" by definition yet on this site. Usually I'm adding vids, talking about the site, or telling about a concert. I haven't really put out an update on what I've been playing ect.
First off I've been listening to a lot of Reel Big Fish. Really like their new album Monkeys For Nothin' and the Chimps For Free. Still if I had to make a recommendation, I would defiantly saw check out their live album, Our live album is better than your live album.
I've really been playing alot of cod4. Got back into it, and damn is it addicting to keep gaining levels, and unlocking new stuff. Im on my 2nd prestige now, level 26 I think. For people who care I'm using the M4 alot, and the mp5. M16 occasionally. I usually play headquarters. Because one, you get a lot of points, and two I find it the most fast paced game. Which I like. It totally ruins your K/D ratio though.
Friday night a friend and I rented Army of Two. Because well, there was two of us. Were playing on normal. He likes it a lot better then I do. Though I am a little better then him. He always is the one running into the middle, dieing, and when I try to save him I die as well. But O well, he's good besides that. My impresions, right and wrong. For the record I like this game. I point out some flaws, but thats only becuase in my head im comparing it to shooters like Gears and Cod4

You can never really tell how much health you have left, you screen just turns red, and its not like it ever gets darker, its the same red the whole time

Snipers don't kill an enemy in one shot, but you can kill a enemy with two shots of a pistol (I know im nitpicking now)
Guns are very customizable, but all really feel the same
After reading these I realize I'm really tuff on the story. Its acually ok, just like I said hard to follow, and you skip around, ALOT!
Last thing, I made a logo for my every three blog. If you are not familiar, every three blogs, I post a video. It is not necessary gaming related, though most of them will probably be related to gaming somehow. Here it is. I suck at Gimp, but I thought this will do. Spend around 15 minutes on it.
Thursday I attended my first ever Vans Warped Tour. For the first hour or so, we just walked around, seeing all the stages, not really listening to any bands. Though a quick side note, we did see Katy Perry sing I Kissed a Girl. Which is not necessarily a good thing. I'm going to keep this short today, so Ill just name all the bands I saw, instead of giving a specific story for each one. I saw The Space Pimps, Katy Perry, Gym Class Heros, Reel Big Fish, and some other small ones, which I didn't know the names of. The day wasn't going to great, until I saw Reel Big Fish.
Reel Big Fish,. the best ska band ever, where playing at 6:40. My friend an I where near the front, around 14 rows of people back. The show was beyond amazing, one of the best experiences of my life. The first song they played was Sell Out, my favorite song. During that my friend started a mosh pit, and crowd surfed, all in the span of 4 minutes. You could tell it was not his first Ska concert.

Me with lead singer of Reel Big Fish, Aaron BarrettThey went on to play a few more songs, I mosh pitted, lost my shoes, mosh pitted bare foot, and danced and rocked out to the band. I had a GREAT time. The best part came after the show though. They mentioned that they would be hanging out at the merch tent after the show. I figured we'd get the meet and get autographs from the drummer, and the trombone player or something. Which would still be cool.
But to my surprise lead singer Aaron Barrett, bassist Derek Gibbs, and trumpet player John Christianson were there! The guys were really cool, signed autographs and took pics with us. I even made Aaron laugh! (my friend said how he thought it was cool how the light was shining around Aarons head, and I said DUH thats cause hes God.) John was really chill as well, and he was probably my favorite to watch during the show. I then went on to buy a shirt.
I know you guys have probably never heard of this band, so I don't want to bore you with more info about the show, and after the show. Im ranked 61st on this site. I've accumulated over 2,700 points. I've added multiple articles, and educated people on some games, that they probably wouldn't have known any otherwise. Does that make me a better user, then the guy ranked 2,000th with 70 points? Absolutely not.
This will sound cliche, but were all in this together. Were all working towards one common goal, to make this the biggest gaming wiki on the internet. My submission of Backyard Baseball 2001 is just as valuable as Joseppie's and Jeff's article on GTA 4. Unlike other gaming sites, it isn't a popularity contest here. Jeff will be just as happy to have a conversation with that user ranked 2,000, as he would with the number one ranked user.
We need to stop trying to one-up everybody. Instead of spending time writing a brand new article for a game that already has one written, write on for a game that has nothing. We need to take pride in our site, and start filling up even the most obscure game pages.
I don't want to go too long, for I went extremely long (for my taste) yesterday. And I don't want to bore all of you with this cliche talk about how were all in this together, but I take pride in my submissions, and so should everyone on this site. Add articles for games you really care about, it shows in your article. Add images that you really think are cool. Don't just google the game, and add the first five screenshots you see. Remember that every time you add something, it will potentially seen by thousands. So make it worth their time.
Everyone will make to 1000 eventually, just let the number come to you, don't rush towards it. I'll admit when I joined this site I thought it would take me months to get to 1000. But hey I didn't worry about my score, and look at me now. I'm at 2,726. Am I guilty of adding certain stuff for points? Of course I am. But now I realize that its not about that, and that I was foolish to do so.
There are a few things that really annoy me on this site, and I'd like to rant about them. To get it off right here this is NOT a blog about pending submissions, or anything like that. Its talking only about users.
1. People who ask to be a mod, everywhere. I hate the people that will go to the forums, and post a topic, "Giantbomb I want to be a mod" Then you go to their page, and in there status update it says I want to help out and be a mod. Then in their blog it says I WANT TO BE A MOD, WHY ISNT ANYONE LISTENING?
This was an actual user I saw. Guess how much he had contributed to the site? Nothing. 0 points, no pending submissions. This kid have 4 forums post, and 0 friends. He had literly been on the site for 5 minutes, and was already bitching because he wasn't a mod yet. I mean come on seriously? Im sure If I would have messaged him and asked him if he knew what it meant to be a mod, he'd have no clue. This one annoys me the most. I'm friends with a couple mods, and they've all told me that they were basically picked at random, for what they did on the site. Wether it be a good blog post, good post on the forums, ect. Mondo Burger. What? This blog needed a picture.
2. People blogging multiple times a day. I myself, pride myself in commenting on almost everyone of my friends blogs. I don't really expect them to return the favor, but it would be nice. The reason I comment so much is I remember being a new user on gamespot, and sometimes making blogs getting no comments. That was the worst feeling. You felt like yor wrote up the whole thing for nothing.
Which brings me to my point. I mean Im on this site around 7-8 hours a day, for ive been addicted here, and not even gaming. I could easily post 3 blogs a day, but I dont. Why? Because I have some loyal viewers, and I don't want to annoy them with half ass blogs. There are a couple people on my friends list that will post blogs like, "I just got home from work" or "I just shot two pigeons in gta." Seriously? I mean first off I could care less. I would actually care if you told what happened at work, or something, something more then just I got home. Please people stop abusing the fact that you can blog as much as you want, and remember you are wasting peoples time writing shit blogs.
3. People posting youtube vids in their blogs everyday, and nothing else. Yes I realize I have a feature called every three, where I post a vid. Why is it called every three? Because I only post a video every THREE days. And in that blog post I will explain how I found it, and maybe write a tiny bit more about my day or something. People find that its really easy to just post a random video, sometimes pretty sucky, and not even write words. Ugh that annoys me.
Yes I understand that it is their blog. They can do whatever the fuck they want with it. But I just have to take them off my friends list, because I don't want this site to turn into youtube, and people posting videos that you've most likely already seen, instead of posting good content. So what I have to say is i'm fine with people posting vids, hell I do it myself, but please don't just post them everyday, that gets boring.
4. People crying about their pending content. I mean really? Do you realize that this site has had around 40,000 submissions. And that before a few days ago there was only 4 mods going through them! Yes they could have just skimmed through it, and added it to the site. But the big four didn't want their site to be a load of bullshit, so they read through everything, before adding it. It just really really annoys me when people wrote countless blogs about the mods are soo lazy, they don't check the stuff it order, blah blah blah. Those people are about as smart as Pete.
But then after that blog, which none of us care about, nor want to read, they have the audacity to write. Don't comment on this blog telling me to be patient. I realize I have to be patient. Don't flame my comment board. Wow, just wow. First off if you realize you need to be patient, they why are you just sucking it up, and being patient? Secondly, your telling us not to flame your comment board, when your flaming the site itself with your blog! All I can say is that Id like to see those people start a game site.
5. Double posting. Yes this has been a age long problems in forums, and it is only worsened here because there aren't many mods to lock topics. Im ok if something random gets double posted on off topic or something. Because it would take hours to search through that entire board. But what actually annoys me is when you are on a specific game board, such as the gears of war 2 game board, and stuff gets double posted. I would take you an entire 10 seconds to make sure the topic you are about to post isn't being talked about.
For example I posted a Gears of war 2 topic asking people wether they wanted to buy the limited, or regular edition. We ended up mostly discussing that we were either going to get it for the golden lancer, or not. Later there were two topics, asking if you wanted to get the limited JUST because of the golden lancer. Well Hello! We are already are talking about that in MY post. Luckily both of those got deleted. There are probably more up right now though.
6. Last one. People posting on their own walls. Now i'm not just talking about one random post saying something funny. I'm talking there having a conversation with someone, and instead of going and posting on that person wall, they will respond on their own wall. I just have to laugh at this one. Thats not how it works! Haven't you ever used facebook or myspace?!!
To conclude this long blog I want to tell you this. Most to all of you on my friends list are not guilty of ANY of these things. And I'm not accusing you of being guilty. Most of the people guilty of these I have taken off my friends list. Because I was getting sick of them.
Well the whole once a week video thing was a little to long for me, so I decided to put a new one out every three days. In my opinion, posting a new video every day will get old, and I want you guys to enjoy this, not find it a chore to come and watch. Like I said before my videos are absolutely random, don't really have to do with a certain topic. This one is gaming related, and its another song. I love this one. And its not fanboy related so everyone will like it.
And for the copyright sign, well thats just a joke to the two users that "borrowed" my idea for video of the week. I'm really fine with it, just as long as you guys don't the every three thing. It kind of rymes...right?
