It's an interesting question, and honestly I think we'll see "true next-gen" games around the Holidays next year. But until then it's going to be more cross-gen titles, simply because very few can even get a hold of these consoles or GPUs.

I'm really having fun with 120hz titles on the Series X. I really love higher fps on older games, to me that is a big win for next-gen consoles so far.

It burnt me out on the PvP genre, and made me want to play puzzle games, which kind of lead me down a rabbit of hole and now I started making mods (whoopee). I went back to school over the pandemic (online), and that's kept me pretty busy too.

Also helps I'm a huge introvert, and being quiet and peaceful indoors isn't exactly a tall order for me.

I played the first day of early beta (also on a series x), and it has its moments. I was a pretty diehard battlefield fan from BF3-BF1, but kind of lost interest towards the end of battlefield 1.

Pros: The dynamic weather/tornado is really immersive, and there's nothing like running through a battlefield map during a huge storm.

Cons: The graphics look basic to me, the movement is very reminiscent of 2011 games. The grapple hook is disappointing coming from Titanfall/Apex.

I also just don't like Conquest, and the tornado is cool but I don't really understand the appeal of getting stuck in one. (Does the wing suit work yet? lol if so I don't know how to use it).

My initial reaction is a bit negative, but I'm open minded and I can see myself playing in a year or so.

I find I usually have a better time when I turn down the music in "high action" games (or completely off). I mostly just don't like "boss battle" music that plays for 30+ minutes. The exception is games like BotW where the music all-around is pure bliss. I guess one recent example is the music in psychonauts 2. The music isn't bad, it just feels like an action movie sequence drawn out to 20-30 minutes, and gets tiring lol.

I loved the dishonored series, but I'm not seeing anything at the same level as the clockwork mansion or stilton's house in this game. I'll wait a few months, looks promising, but not a day 1 buy for me.

I haven’t finished yet, but I really like the levels. Each new brain gives me a similar feeling as the Outer Wilds did visiting new planets. I also laughed out loud with some of the jokes, which is pretty rare for me in a game. Having said that, the first few hours after the intro action section feels pretty “filler,” and navigating the map is kind of a chore. In addition, the gameplay isn’t on-par with, say, Mario 3D games, i.e. the platforming can get a little tedious when you’ve played dozens of similar platformers before. The graphics feel very dated, but the unique design within each brain/world makes up for that. I kind of wish we had a “renaissance” of oldschool graphics tied to huge, imaginative worlds that weren’t possible on previous generations, instead of this extreme focus on real life graphics. Anyways.

I also like the depth to the storytelling and the metaphors, which you rarely see in AAA games imo.

Overall, I would give it a 8.5/10, very surprising!

Cyberpunk feels like a sequel to a game that never existed. Imo they should've started small with highly curated districts and semi-open world gameplay & unique skills. Make it similar to Deus Ex, then slowly branch out with sequels into a highly detailed open world.

Instead, they tried to push all of their ideas into a stupidly ambitious game that doesn't quite deliver on anything. I didn't hate the final game, but it felt like bleh soup, and they tried too hard to make something they clearly didn't have the experience to make.
