@austin_walker you should probably look up what "palindrome" means. "mood + doom" technically is one, but "mood" and "doom" themselves are not.

Way to give people a really shitty first impression with your (admittedly humourous) "Here's the list of all of the systems you need to learn!!" bit. The game does a good job teaching you how to play, and those tips are just there as a helpful reference if you're unsure or forget something.

Game is addictive as fuck. I have played way too much of it. Might secretly be Game Freak's best game. :P

he has a point though, it seems to be bombarding you with crazy systems repeatedly right out the gate and expects you to be able to deal with them in rapid succession. i mean, it's cool if you can cope with it and all but i think it's fair for the audience to know what they're getting into.

(btw not directed at you but the joke took like 3 minutes. calm down or skip it, you don't have to pull out the pitchforks for evil Dan Ryckert just yet ; ) )

Is that based on this QL or on the game? Because the game doesn't even give you that tips menu before introducing the basics. I found it pretty straightforward to understand. Yes there are deeper systems to take advantage of if you want but you can't really do stuff like optimize your horse's skills until you're way further in the game anyway.

Just started watching...do they figure out that there is actually a later autosave than what they're trying to load? Or will they just start the thing over?

Snooker's a pretty cool game. This video game doesn't seem like the best example though.

Though the "easy" AI just murdering was pretty funny to watch.

Damn it chat...there's no reason to bother with that contraption door if you've already killed the dragon.

Hmm, it was interesting to hear Dan describe how the motion aiming wasn't helpful and then proceed to bounce all his shots off those armored thingies because he was aiming at their sides.

Overall he wasn't playing this game at all like I would (why no charge shots?!?) so I guess there's a little hope that I'd like this more than 2 stars.

But it is pretty clear that the length of the game leaves something to be desired; will probably pick this up down the road with some Best Buy credit I guess.

EDIT: but that Starfox Guard loading screen was awesome

@tylerdurden4321: Danswers is generally a show with people that shouldn't be giving advice giving advice. The one with Nikki on was one of the worst for this. Don't really care to see round 2 of that without the better Dan.

Yeah, I was mainly annoyed that this was in the "Presents" RSS when it really should have been in "Danswers".

I ended up listening to it and as you predicted, just really bad advice. Admittedly a pretty funny Danecdote (in retrospect, nothing exactly *surprising*) but overall I can't help but feel I'd have been better off skipping it.

At best the "career advice" part was a refresher on privilege and how it contributes to some pretty myopic worldviews.

@vinny I'm wondering if you've checked out any modded Minecraft, specifically so-called "technology" mods?

I've only dipped a toe in myself, but I wouldn't be surprised if Factorio had been partially inspired by that stuff -- there are literally dozens of mods centered around building factories and automatic processing pipelines.

So torn...I haven't played the Witcher 3 DLC yet but I really want to watch this!

Probably going to cave soon because "spoilers" at this point probably won't ruin much for me but...

So what is stopping games workers from unionizing?

I appreciate the information in the article, but I don't really get what it has to do with people who aren't working in the games industry (meaning, consumers of games, like myself). Am I misreading something or is there an undertone that these workers need *our* help? I definitely got an "evangelical" feel from this article.

I'll worry about labour rights in my own field, thanks. Working in "games" doesn't make someone special or more deserving of support -- it's often said that it's a "unique" industry but guess what, most information-age industries are "unique".

How many unions started because the workers took it upon themselves to fight for their rights, and how many were started because consumers decided to play nanny? IMHO if it's the latter then I don't see how such a union could be effective in any way.
