1. Medkits recharge between missions. Really, you'll only need to buy 2, maybe 3 medkits in the whole game.
2. When aiming, in the top left corner you see little alien portraits. The yellow ones mean that you have a flanking bonus, with bonuses to hit percentage and critical hit chances. Always cycle between targets to get the best chance to hit.

This is making me want to play Massive Chalice again. Incidentally, I quite enjoy Massive Chalice; will X-COM appeal to me? (Subjective, I know.)
Absolutely. X-Com and Massive Chalice are cut from the same cloth, both games having the on the ground tactics game and infrastructure strategy game in similar doses. If you like Massive Chalice, I can all but guarantee you'll like X-Com.
Man, I suggested this years ago and Vinny tried to convince Brad, but he wouldn't have any of it! There's even video evidence, though I'm not sure which video. Maybe at the end of some previous breaking Brad....
