I do wonder why the Zero Escape series didn't excite me like every other notable adventure/visual novel game that came out around this time. I still want to go back and attempt another playthrough to see if it'll change my mind. Although it might just be because I prefer poking holes in testimonies more than figuring out obscure puzzles.

This is a fantastic blog @mento. Hyper Light Drifter is the only recent indie game that comes to my mind when thinking about Zelda inspired games. Obviously it isn't out yet so you didn't have a reason to mention it.

@thewildcard Thanks and Raystorm is still really good.

@ravey Your thoughts on Goldeneye are a lot more in depth than my rapid fire 1 paragraph per game approach. With a few edits you could almost call that a user review. Thanks for taking the time to type that out its usually fun to see someone else's thoughts on a notable video game.

@cav829 Yup it is possible to use the best magic in the first turn. Even when I left it up to the AI the first thing it did was cast Dragon Slave.

@davidh219 Some games are more fun when playing them coop. Especially with any beat em up game like Fantastic Four. Herc's Adventures was apparently a hard game since I never managed to beat it either.

Although emulators and re-releases may make it easier to play old games these days they aren't quite the same. They may be able to perfectly recreate everything visually but they can't accurately reproduce the feel of playing it on the original controller. Nostalgia may be the reason I kept almost every console but the reason I don't mind keeping them is that I can still enjoy playing them today. Even keeping them around just to look at is fine too since that fills a similar need as having Gundam model kits on a shelf or a growing Amiibo collection. Or if you go with my case having a absurd amount of old games let me revisit them now and write a bit about them in my weekly blog post.

So I don't think its pointless but of course I would say that.

@zombiepie: Yeah you've got everything. Most of my spare time has been put toward my weekly blog post. So at best I'll have one review out each week.

I enjoyed reading this, Final Fantasy 7 was indeed a big part of a lot of kids hearts that Christmas. For me it set the bar pretty high as well. It also started me down the path of playing more JRPG's since up to this point I almost completely ignored the genre.

Once again thank you for mentioning what I've put up on the site each week. Like usual our community put out a lot of good stuff this week.

I missed out on a lot of episodes of On The Spot when they first aired since I ended up caring more about text content than videos at this point. So it should be fun to go back and watch some of what I missed at the time.

I skipped over Twilight Princess when it first came out. So I don't really have any excitement for this HD remaster. Yet I'm still slightly curious to see what I missed so I could pick this up someday.

I'm not sure if you would get anything out of going back to see what you missed. Especially with SNES games unless you like a lot of the retro inspired PC games that come out these days. The PS2 era is even tougher since they tend to feel like simpler versions of modern console/pc games. That doesn't mean you can't get anything out of them but going by your post I don't think it is worth it. But I can tell you that the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers fighting game you mentioned is still a fun game. I ended up playing it for a while the other day and it was still playable.
