@edmundus: Weird. Not sure what I'm thinking of then. I swear I have hazy memories of a DBZ game that was kinda meh but it had transformations. Something like you charged your Ki meter all the way up and put in some kinda complex button combo. Feel like it was sprite based too.

Did some quick researching and didn't find anything so not sure what I'm imagining.

I feel like I remember "Hyper Dimension" being the decent one? That was way back in the day.

Friend and I were getting into ZSNES and we discovered that Dragon Ball games existed? Which, when you're big into DBZ at the time and watching the show on Toonami, having any sort of game was like OMG. But Hyper Dimension had awesome looking sprites and, more importantly, you could transform during fights I think? The most important, well worn plot twist in the Dragon Ball universe.

@rorieReading through the comments and I'm still not exactly sure if this whole thing is Premium only or if having chat alongside the video is Premium only.

Gave the link to a friend thinking he could watch it and he is saying its Premium I guess, as someone already pointed out earlier.

This is always fascinating to listen to. This and the FighterZ game (even though I've barely played it because.. fighting games) has put me in some kind of nostalgic mood where I've very casually been going back and rewatching some specific favorite parts of mine (which are of course key, famous scenes in the series), and now I'm at the point of just binge watching Dragon Ball Super. I had watched about 14 episodes of Super some years ago and thought it was a little ridiculous, but coming back now and giving it another shot I'm kinda digging it with a few exceptions. Mostly just one specific character and set of episodes which I thought was kind of agonizing to watch.

I will say that I rewatched some of those bits of Kai and the original and I wish there was some kind of middle ground. I feel like Kai moves too fast at times and I guess they lost the original music which I think fit perfectly for the scenes and stand out in my mind with those famous moments.

The one thing I wish this podcast had (which they'd probably disagree with) is Vinny to provide some answers to all these specific, weird questions they have or fill in a plot summary of stuff from the original Dragon Ball. And because Vinny is a bit rusty on it too, he'd also be somewhat guessing and casual about it, but I also think he'd be able to play into the mystery well with some of their other important story questions and keep Jeff and Dan guessing.

I just suspect they'll get so confused or overwhelmed or bored over time that someone who knows a little bit more to help them along would be fun.

I was also a little miffed on the Bombcast when (story spoiler) Ben just casually says that Trunks is Vegeta's son.. That was a HUGE crazy story twist back then and ruining that for them would suuuuuck. Unless they already knew.

@lanechanger@humanity

It'll be far too late by then mwuahaha

Loving MHW and have been playing with some fellow Giant Bombers almost every day, crossed the 200 hour mark on my save..

..and I'm feeling the fatigue the last two days. Getting hard to go back in and kill the same stuff some more. I'm not sure if something will be able to top this for my GOTY. Putting this many hours into something at launch is kinda crazy for me.

I've actually been looking to buy an original PS2 copy because I'm interested to go back and try it out. See where it all began. I played through Tri on Wii as my first real MH experience a month before MHW release so I'm somewhat familiar with the old, less friendly format so I'm not worried about that. Of course, now prices are jumping a little bit and I don't wanna pay $30-50 for a used copy. Just curious about it and it'd make a nice little addition to my game collection.

Yea, the Monster Hunter talk is a little painful. As someone who just started getting into it in December (after playing the Beta, I went back and played through Tri's story on Wii), I don't really see what is so complex or hard to grasp about this game.

I personally feel like I can compare it to two types of games:

  1. The Souls games because the combat is all about player skill, learning about your opponents' actions/behavior, and the map/environment/world. You're picking a weapon that you enjoy using and want to spend the time to get better at.
  2. JRPGs or MMORPGs because outside of the fights, it's about improving your character so you can take on tougher fights. You're picking out gear you think looks cool and will make the fights easier. It's optimization.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of the Crew aren't into this sort of gameplay. Vinny & Brad would probably love it. The only thing you need to understand to initially get into the game is that you fight these big boss type things, you make better gear with the loot (like so many other games). Rinse, repeat. If you enjoy that bit in the first couple quests, then the game will gradually introduce more ways for you to get loot and upgrade your gear.

I'm also not sure what is so hard to understand about the online functions. I do agree that some of the wording is a little weird, but once you play the game online with some people, you start to understand how it works and why they designed it that way.

Zelda was a bad game so no surprises there.

Horizon though.. From 5 star, game of the year material, to no mention. Savage.

Glad Dig 2 got some more recognition though.

This was pretty great. Could maybe use some fine tuning but yea. I remember suggesting some kinda Giant Bomb annual tournament some time ago, but I'm sure others have as well.

I'll say it again. Horizon getting screeeeeewed by the crew so hard.

PUBG is definitely not a great debut to me. If you had seen King of the Kill long before PUBG, you'd know they are pretty much identical games except graphics are different (still not good) and they removed the crafting. Same game.
