I've been playing Just Cause 2, a game the looks better than 4 and 3 (at times) and remembering all the things the recent 2 games have lacked for no good reason:

1. A dodge roll.

2. Mini map.

3. Health Bar.

4. Health bars for explosive structures.

5. Cheesy VO and story.

In fact the only things the recent games have done better are the wingsuit and marking structures you missed on the map, but I kinda think those are double edge swords. The former makes vehicles useless and you miss the Easter egg hunt feeling you get from destroying bases. You could argue JC3 had number 5 on the list, but I'd disagree, it felt kinda flat for me.

Edit: I'll also say tethering was better in the recent games too and that's an objectively better thing, but still not worth abandoning the mini map and dodge roll.

EA doesn't need people marketing for them. They could use much better PR, sure, but that's on their end.

Wait, did it really looked like i'm marketing for them?

If we were to compare then most if not all the major publishers need better PR.

You framed this thread defensively, as in you are defending EA b/c you liked some of their decisions based off a mobile game. To be fair, I don't think they're worse than any other AAA company and not even close to being the worst company in America, but I don't think they need defending, IMHO. The thread kind of came across as some sort of advert for C&C or rather a list of defenses as to why certain mechanics weren't as bad as they seemed.

My point is that you don't have to be defensive towards the things you like (I'm guilty of it in the past). Just like the things. And especially don't be defensive towards a company's business practices, they don't need the rep boost. They have PR for that.

Yup, the game also refuses to save progress for me. Tempted to refund it.

State of Decay 2 springs to mind. You're always seemingly losing something when you gain something and making tough choices that don't always pay off sometimes without knowing it.

Avoid the PC version, a lot of people, myself included are having weird graphical problems. It looks bizarre, I'll see about adding screenshots.

The mission design in 3 was abysmal to say the least, I hope this shapes up better in that department. They could also improve the shooting as it feels really weird due to the auto targeting nature of it all.

I think the framerate on console kills it for me. I should've considered the PC version, but I heard that it was worse? I dunno. I like the idea of an open world online shooter, it just needs a lot of work. Hopefully the negative press does force them to consider doing well by this game, because it does have potential.

Pretty much all forms of media are psychological manipulation in some way. It's whether or not that manipulation is good or healthy leaves room for debate.

Anyway, Fallout 76 is what I expected it to be. I like the idea of a true open world online shooter and there are surprisingly a lack of them. Destiny isn't open world and the Division is solo unless you invite friends or are in a safe area. Oddly enough, the closest thing to it that I can think of that still exists is Defiance, which is even more buggy and laggy than 76.
