The game not trusting itself to tell the story without cheating is fair criticism. I think the stupidly overwrought plan that accompanies that point in the game was worse.
Having completed the set: I've been rotating characters out in the order they've joined the party. The only exception is Morgana. That little guy is a heal machine.
@cagliostro88: Looking at the trophy list, (I was just checking it when I realized I had to go back to this thread!) Madarame was the sin of vanity, which kind of throws the metaphor. Especially since, knowing my sins, pride has to be the last one.
Noticed a pattern after the third palace, which continues to be validated. They're the seven deadly sins. 1 = Lust, 2 = Envy, 3 = Gluttony, 4 = Sloth, 5 = Greed.The boss names seem to hint as much. (Not really spoilers, just a thematic observation.
I replaced Ryuji with 5, Ann with 6. I actually really liked Ann's magic focused archetype, but her guns suck. Morgana, the trusty healer, is safe for now.
Finally, light and dark spells beyond mudo and hama. Still not completely sold on the addition of psi and nuclear though. Inspired ideas for new damage types at least.
