Remote Control Dandy is great, plus it's by the team that became Sandlot (of EDF fame). Jeff got stuck at the point where it was telling him to run around as the kid to get a better vantage point, but that was probably the best way it could have ended.
Also Croc was built on spec as a licensed Yoshi game by the team that made Starfox (Nintendo said no and that was the end of that relationship). That still blows my mind.
Was it one of the Resistance games that sent out a like a packet for reviewers with tips on how to play the game? When Jeff brought up the hand-holding appointment with the dev it triggered something familiar in my memory. I'm pretty sure Lair might have done something similar but I think I remember it happening more recently than that and google is no help (I could be completely wrong on this too).
@jeff Someone mentioned Front Mission in the stream, and you should totally check out the sidescroller Front Mission: Gun Hazard, a Super Famicom only release that is very much in the style of the Assault Suits series. It's not as hard as Target Earth or even Cybernator, but it's very pretty and there's a translation patch to cover the story.
