I wish they would just use the time were the whole site is in the office to make more videos like Hitmas and the Rock Band video. Nothing but negativity both from these deliberations and in the community discussing them.

Yup. And they could to more vignettes and have each of the crew do a little video with their personal top 10s.. A part of me is always drawn to arbitrary arguments and i'm sure this drives some amount of traffic but it seems like it's making quite a few vocal members of the community pretty miserable.

@ms_mohr: Jeff "i never wanted to play ___ again" Brad "I think you're crazy if ___". Everyone falls back on their pat lines in dozens of hours of podcasting..

If people think these podcasts are frustrating they should try reading our comments!

Wow, didn't delve too deep when i commented before but looking over it and man.. alot of really bad faith reads here i would guess probably don't mean to be as harsh as they sound? I've never been entirely comfortable with some of the ways the crew struggle to characterize things but i appreciate that they are getting better at it in spite of those nervous hiccups and some old guard rigidness (love the old crew too!)... I too miss Austin's gift for distilling complex ideas down to a shared language and still appreciate Jeff's knack for cutting to the core argument but not everyone has to be Austin or Jeff, and i think the new voices are already good and getting better over time!

@rongalaxy: Best new character is always bad. Remember when that giant bull guy from Dragon Age Inquisition won in 2014?

@borklund: i know a native amirican blogger found the terms Brave, savage, and something else offensive but i saw the nora as inspired by and less appropriative. Brave can be offensive but in the game it was used as a achieved status and not used to dehumanize them, as for savage, i can see how it might raise some eyebrows but history and even sci finuse this term for civilized to insult. These terms are not as black and white as other problematic terms in american history. And althought characters use this language generally the cultures were handled respectfully with a lot more representation and a full matriarchy. Borrowing from history should not be forbidden especially when the characters are not just flat stereotypes.

The same blogger also found Pharah having a Thunderbird costume offensive, and wrote off Mass Effect Andromeda because of "Colonialism" (also a awful, awful game, but... there may be a trend here). Identity politics creates industries on both sides, I suspect HZD was easy prey.

Why take her criticism in bad faith? And even if she is, who cares if others are doing so NOT in bad faith. And who cares if the GB crew brought it up here in passing, as @ildon said, not everyone has to like the games you enjoy for the reasons you do, its just something to consider as is any of the many reasons they don't fully articulate -- hell most of the way people praise things are just listing superlatives anyway..

Anyway i will say it took me a long time to realize these things can be something other than "consumer products" tied up in "consumer identity" and as such i've come to enjoy more perspectives (even the bad ones) and the conversations/arguments started.. And hell why not jump down my throat or Ben's because some of us have the knee jerk reaction that robo-dinos look like knock off transformers garbage? And I KNOW i'm probably picking at low hanging fruit..
