@vinny How did you feel about the end of Book 2? I was loving that game until I finished it and it left so many dangling threads. I had no idea that after 20 hours it was really going to be "Book of Unwritten Tales 2, Episode 1".

The library time travel bit is awesome though, easily would make my list for "best moments".

God damn I can't understand the ori hate. I loved that little game and it has great design and even better music. I just dont.

I love it too, but that's not a game you approach thinking it's going to be a fairly hardcore platformer. I can understand something being put off from that game because of its difficulty. I raged at it a couple times myself.

Glad to hear you talk about Syndicate after seeing a bunch of mouth breathers killed Molyneux behind the barn. One of the most laughable display of entitlement of 2015.

That was the thing that made me realize that I'm in no way associated with "gamer culture" anymore. Holy crap.

Anyway, I digress. Syndicate is an amazing game.

You know he's talking about the 2012 first person shooter from EA, right? Not the Molyneux original.

Most fans of the Bullfrog game would probably identify the new game as a disrespectful travesty in the same way that rabid Fallout 1 & 2 fans regarded Fallout 3.

That shooter has been Jeff's hill to die on after he gave it a 5/5 and the rest of the industry and most consumers didn't agree with him...

Isn't it possible to get a pretty good armor that looks just like (or similar to) the starting set later in the game? Or did I just dream that up?

But yeah, the armor in Witcher 3 in general looks awful.

I'm not aware of anything in the base game, but Viper armor in the Hearts of Stone expansion is a darker variant the starting armor model - which I'm betting is a direct reaction to a lot of people sharing the same opinion about the appearance of the starting armor vs the "better" armors.

I haven't played Hearts of Stone yet though, I have a bunch of other games I started in the meantime that I want to finish.

I love the Witcher 3, but I'm totally on board with what @brad said about the armor. The default starting armor is arguably the best looking armor in the game. I mean it's kind of telling when that's the armor Geralt is wearing on the box art and in all the promo renders.

The Wolf armor is cool, but I kept wanting him to button (or rather strap) the damn lower half of the vest up!

Regarding Rebel Galaxy, that's a game that makes a great initial impression and wears thin extremely quickly. I kind of suspected it would go that way based on the Quick Look. For all it's initial charm it just ends up being the same hollow mechanical grind as the other space trading sims. I would have been more surprised if it didn't turn out to be that.

Looking at their achievements on Steam, neither Vinny nor Austin got even half-way through that game.

@alex: Pertinent litmus test: what did you think of Binary Domain? I can't recall ever hearing your take on that game.

To me that game is very much an indicator for how demanding a critic is. Jeff for example, could never be convinced that's a good game, because the quality of the shooting just doesn't hold up to the best shooters. However, Vinny and Patrick absolutely loved it because of the characters (who are all ridiculous stereotypes, but also kind of endearing in terms of having nostalgia for 80s action movies) and because it doesn't play terribly.
