The thing I really wanted to like about Destiny was the idea of adhoc multiplayer co-op without any matchmaking, people just kind of went in and out of each others' worlds, with big events randomly occurring, sort of the only really good part of PVE MMOs, but with FPS.

It was a great idea, but they massively underutilized it, and far worse, pretty much threw the system away entirely once you beat the campaign and required a bunch of matchmaking. It seems like this game falls into the same pattern?

The evolution of timecube was really weird. At first it was just a kind of funny crackpot theory of time and space, but overtime more and more bigotry and hatred filtered into it.

I know people like Vinny doing his thing in these streams but it was infuriating for me to watch this cause I'm currently playing this game and really invested in it, so watching him just fuck around to break the game and not pay attention to anything was killing me and making me want to kill!

What makes this video so painful to me isn't Vinny messing around, it's Abby interrupting all the best moments right when Vinny is starting to get really into it. I wish she would look to the person playing the game and hold back when their focus is on the game, or when it's a really important moment.

Just go back and look at all the most important reveals, Abby interrupts them all while Vinny is suddenly getting into it. He misses a bunch of important information because she talks over it.

I watched the live stream of this, funny stuff.

But it also convinced me to not buy the game, whereas I'd been on the fence before. I liked everything I saw about the game, except the actual gameplay, which doesn't look like my cup of tea at all. I know Vinny was messing around most of the time, but the combat looks way too survival/horror/stealth for me and not the Bioshock-style combat I was hoping for (and what I expect nowadays when I hear "inspired by System Shock 2").

The game style can change a *lot* for what it's worth.

Towards the middle of the game I was running so fast, jumping so high, doing extended glides and slowing down time, with high strength, landing sneak attacks.. I could beat down most of the semi powerful enemies with just a wrench. But early on, yes, you are very weak and vulnerable.

Yep. I almost gave up at the beginning of the game. But being soooo weak at the beginning pays off later when you feel overpowered. I was chunking refrigerators at the aliens and pretty much killing them in 1-2 hits. I didn't get the super jump until the end because it sounded a bit lame but I wish I had gotten it earlier. Also I didn't use any of the alien powers so I'm sure that probably would of been cool if I had done that as well... didn't want to sully my humanity tho.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention how powerful throwing things becomes. Also there were intense time sensitive sections I didn't even fight my way through, I just parkoured it, flying over and around enemies, sometimes before they could even react, and it was really satisfying.

Anyways I really unexpectedly got into this game. I'm really torn as to whether it or Zelda: BotW is my Game of the Year so far, I think Prey will be more memorable to me.

Because the end game was just so much more satisfying, I was really powerful from an Action RPG perspective that felt like was really tailored and unique to how I played, with a really crazy manic first-person-shooter set up, whereas in Zelda there's much more of a correct way to finish the game, and I sort of cheesed my way through with a ridiculous amount of food.

Zelda was a great game, but because it had a very prescribed final show down, where in Prey you have a lot of freedom in what you do and how you do it, I'm going to be a lot more fond of Prey in the long run.
