Found Giantbomb after Ryan Davis' passing, did not know much about Giant Bomb before that aside from the Kane & Lynch issue. A friend of mine told me that I'd dig the site and would love Vinny. It's now become my #1 site for video games.

I won a game with teamwork in a random match of dota.

I beat Resident Evil 6, one of most uninteresting games I've ever played.

Beat Silent Hill 2 35 times.

None of these characters are oversexualized (not even Lara Croft for once!) and all are pretty positive representations. These are the type of games I want to play because I don't feel insulted and can actually identify with the characters.

I would agree, though there has been a lot of commentary about the death animations in the game taking some perverse pleasure in abusing her as well as her being a strong character only due to emulating traditionally male traits. Both of those arguments frustrate me, but I thought I would bring up that there is a lot of resistance to even the more moderate female characters. When people talk about being fair to women they have to consider the many variations in opinion... and that is really tough. Especially when I want to be fair to everyone but I think some people are insane.

I'm probably putting my foot in my mouth but... I haven't had sleep in a while and need to stay awake for a couple more hours.

I didn't get the squabble over the death animations in the new Tomb Raider game. I could see the problem with a female character that is just replacing he with she, sure, but death animations no. I honestly felt they were gruesome, it was something I didn't want to see, and because of that it made the game much more intense in certain moments. A small minority of people made it seem like they wanted Lara to have plot armor and be invincible, which is silly. If we want strong female characters with actual depth and less Cage-Emotions, then eventually we are going to wander into uncomfortable territory. I think video games have evolved a lot in the different ways one can tell a story and it's all really cool and really interesting when back in the day it was just text adventures or 2-3 sentences on a screen, now some games we have to read the item description, other games we are told the history of the world through the soundtrack, or the creatures that hunt us down telling us a bit about the characters in the world, as well through just basic exploring. (then there are games that tell us to go to our computer and read a blog on a website but the less said about those the better.) So I guess through this long rambling, gay, straight, bi, polygamous, asexual, male, female, transsexual, amorphous blob, whatever, give me a good story and some memorable characters. None of this brooding character stuff that we've been seeing for the past couple years. Otherwise I'm just going to start writing horrible fanfiction and spamming publisher's inboxes with this stuff.

I stopped watching 2 Best Friends, they get a bit grating at times and obnoxiously loud.

Dodger does VN let's plays with Cry and one with Crendor

Totalbuscuit's wife Genna Bain has some videos of them playing Sim City 4, The Sims 4, and the dove VN game.

Chip and Ironicus

Arumba, NL, Mathas, and I guess Quill are doing MP let's play of Europa Universalis 4. Never CK2 anymore, blame NL for that.

If you like RedLetterMedia they have been doing some stuff over at Previously Recorded

Streaming is a bit random but if you like Dota, Pyrion Flax and Shane are fun to watch.

How to with Joel and Adam seems to be the only RT content I've been watching, just one offs of random games but they are entertaining. Also Joel made this a long time ago.

Mind if I share?

I took some time off from GB (viewing content and even going to the site or watching youtube videos, did the same with many other places.) At the time my viewpoints were mixed, wrote some things, now that I look back it feels it was written by someone else. If I were to be honest at first I would have sided with GG.

Sorry, but well, I want transparency in my game blogs/write-ups/reviews. I want people to be honest when they are either hyping up a game or trying to give reasons to issues like Ubisoft and it's love for 30fps. It's why I like John Bain. After hearing about the Microsoft's PR disaster where they intended to pay people to point out the good things about XBox One without these people informing their audience. You can't blame me that I am a bit skeptical.

I said I would have. Didn't mean I did. I waited to see who was going to stand up for their side and I wanted to hear clear argument. I sat on the fence and waited. While there was decent discussion going on in the end it came to both groups acting like children. No one wanted to talk. No one wanted to sit down for a moment and just flap their gums with someone who had an opposing viewpoint. There was the declaration of gamer's death, there was harassment, death threats, multitude of people being petty little shits. People who were anti-GG didn't want to speak with pro-GG people because they were on the same level as those freaks who sent out death threats. That doesn't make sense. There are murderers who identify as Christian and kill in the name of god, doesn't mean that anyone who identifies as christian is on the same level. As for people who are pro-GG, this SJW name calling, this resentment for people who think of a different way is childish. I don't share every one of their viewpoints but they are still human, they still have a brain, they can think for themselves. I agree, some of them go overboard, but so have a lot of pro-GG people. Then their are folks who felt I should apologize for the actions of others. I am talking about basic discussion between two people, not something set up, just forum talk and suddenly I am at fault because some nutjob threatened to harm someone else or because I was ruining someone's hobby.

I listened to those that were willing to talk, I watched a bunch of videos and read the articles. I felt a bit off, eventually things just didn't seem right. To me it felt like both sides were being co-opted either by stubborn folks who would not share a room with the other side or those who wanted the chaos to resume.

Here is where TB comes in. Mr. Bain sat down and had a discussion with Totilo. It was pleasant, it might seem like it was heated at points, but both were given time to talk and discuss this issue. That's what I want. The articles are over, it's time to sit down and talk. I don't want a Rev3Games video like the one about Hatred, where they sit around for 12 minutes agreeing with each other and patting themselves on the back. If you can't find someone then play devil's advocate and try to see things in the opposing side's shoes. Of course it isn't just TB doing this but I would like to see more along this side of things.

I thought the guy on the cover looked like a young Anderson Cooper that rummaged through a trunk filled with Japanese/Korean boy band outfits.
