I had never gotten around to playing the PS1 days back in the day, but ended up getting the Wii version when I was still a Gamefly subscriber. Was really really surprised by how awesome it was! That reminds me that it's been awhile since I've played this...since ya know, I was a Gamefly subscriber the last time I played it XD. I picked up the PS1 classics version, I should reply this >_>

Playing Xenogears years ago when it came out. Got to this door that I could not get to open. Eventually gave up. Then my memory card with all my rpg saves was erased (a dark day indeed), so I never went back to it. Fast forward to like 2014, finally sat down to play through it again. When I got to that part door opened no problem. As far as I could tell, something was caught on geometry when I was trying to open the door the correct direction and I had been trying to open it the wrong direction the entire time. To add insult to injury, it was about 5 minutes before triggering the final boss fight of the game XD.

one of these games will be bought and half played...the other will be bought and likely sit in the shrink wrap for many months if not years...I should probably just play all the games i have and not buy new ones, but that's not gonna happen >_>;;;

around 2k hours in Marvel Heroes overall (this is estimated because I wasn't always running it through steam, but I would put it at 2k +/- ~100 hours), I also "quit" Magic the way many people "quit" smoking. Though with all the lawsuit stuff with the Hex card game, that may finally have been the thing to get me off it for good.

@hypnotoadbrwowrowrow: just monitored temp playing hammerwatch and my gpu temp went up to 82 degrees C

That's really hot for such a low load, even running at 100% my 970 with a slight overclock doesn't push past 65 degrees.

How old is the card? It sounds like maybe your thermal paste has dried up and the fans are kicking in overdrive trying to cool it down.

it's hard to compare cards like that anymore because in some cases, the big advantage of the new chip is simply power efficiency.

For the OP: Blowing out the card's heatsink with compressed air would be the first thing I'd do for sure. Also blow out the case in general and get your case fans and cpu fan as well. A higher ambient temp will of course lead to higher temps under any type of load (even one that isn't super taxing, it's also possible if your cpu heatsink is grungy, the gpu is working extra to make up the performance). I did some quick googlefu and checked the original GTX 660 review on Tom's Hardware. Their temps average for the card was 30 idle and 58 under load. Obviously there are a lot of factors that go into that, so it's not apples to apples, but % wise, their card does about double the temp between idle and load, so if you're idling in the 40's, the 80's may be around what you're going to see. Some of the big leaps after the 600 series for Nvidia came down to power efficiency and management though, so a newer card (even one in the same theoretical performance space) would likely run cooler and with lower wattage regardless.

You may also want to download something like msi afterburner or evga percision or some other software like that. it allows you to manually mess with the fan speeds, it may just be a matter of setting threshholds differently for when it kicks the fan into high gear. Though definitely clean first, you'd be surprised how shitty your system starts to run over time without you really noticing until something like this starts happening.

I used to buy lunch meat for sandwiches, but I'm not enough of an adult to eat it fast enough, so I switched to pb and j but I'm also often bad at making lunches. I try to bring left overs of whatever I made for dinner when possible.

the lean cuisine option is not bad if you have access to a microwave, just keep in mind the lean part of them varies, some of them really aren't all that lean, but I find the steamer tray ones tend to be pretty good (and tend to be better tasting anyways). Just keep in mind, even when you find ones that are low in calories and fat, they tend to be high in sodium, so adjust accordingly.

@punkxblaze:

Yeah, it was pretty rough at launch, but it's in a pretty great place now. They'll be doing the whole 2016 relaunch thing at the end of the year, which will bring the Danger Room and a new Story Chapter with their take on the Skrull Invasion into the story. If you do decide to give it a shot, Look for Batman Batman Batman Inc. which is the current Giant Bomb Super group :D
