@neocalypso You talking just for your melee spot? As it feels like something like the electric whip for dealing with certain things still feels amazing useful. But yeah if I can get my hands on a good twin dagger that is always top choice for close range combat.

Important note that Dan got wildly wrong. Blueprints only unlock the ABILITY to get stuff to drop. You still have to pay cells to fully unlock the drops. Also he was slightly wrong on the damage boosts. Yes if you pay extra cells to improve a weapon type that is permanent, but the 25% he was seeing was 20% from being a certain rank, then 5% from his cell upgrade. Not understanding this can really screw you over since a lot of GREAT stuff has to be unlocked (magnetic grenade is so clutch if you know how to use it).

Lords of the Fallen wasn't great and I was able to get completely overpowered halfway through it, but I did end up finishing it, and this game is speaking to me a lot more than that game ever did. I do hope the environment gets a bit more varied.

Impression I got watching another video (linked earlier in the thread) is that through at least 25 hours of play the environments remain very same-y sadly. Which is a bummer since this setting has all sorts of potential for great backdrops if they were willing to invest the money into art assets to build them :(

@schindigg: So, there are certain things that help. Once you get a certain item it'll show two things (tombs and trees, won't say more than that if you haven't gotten them yet) that you missed, and late game you get a map that shows where all the grubs you missed are. Super useful for collecting two optional things that are only required for 100% but still.

@schindigg: Yup that's why I kept going and completed that part lol. Now I'm trying to decide how much closer to 100% I'm going to get. I'm missing... 5 charms I think? Also need something like 10 grubs (I have the map reveal so I know where the rest of them are), but holy crap that would be a lot of work. I can already fight the last boss now.

@steveurkel: This game has some areas later that are require SUPER tight control, unless you really love playing a game like this on keyboard I do not recommend it. A late game platforming heavy area will make you want to break your keyboard. Think Late game super meat boy levels of precision.

@humanity: An important thing is you can use the stick to look up or down spelunky style which helps a lot with the field of view and seeing what you need to see.

My current game of the year as well though I've not played several of the heavy hitters yet (planning on playing Persona, BotW, and Nier at least from the list big games I can think of). Music is fantastic, art is great, gameplay is mostly great (there's an optional section where the mobility vs the required platforming felt slightly off to me, but since it is an optional area I'll only slightly ding them for it).

Dunno if 1-2 Switch is worth a full price purchase, but a couple of those mini games look super interesting (the dice one in particular is an interesting take on it, having to fake them out on how long it took to count all their dots).

@clagnaught: Giant Machines was far more fun a QL then it had any right to be. Worth the time.
