Another vote for Ornstien and Smough. Died a couple of times, first time I had an NPC phantom fighting Smough which let me solo Ornstien. I wasn't ready for 'lightning Smough' after that, though. Second time, I killed Smough first and my phantom died so I had to solo beefy Ornstein. Third time, I won without getting hit (of course).

IMO, lightning Smough is much easier than huge Ornstein, as he doesn't quite have the speed and he is weak to fire.

All I can think of is how the hours spent making a multiplayer mode that I do not and will not care about, could have gone into improving the single player campaign.

Yes. Seeing as I would have been farming souls elsewhere anyhow, this just saves me a boatload of time. Of course, I am still upset about the invisible lady archer rolling off the cliff and taking her black bow with her but these things happen.

@fenixREVOLUTION: You do, however, get a unique item if you are summoned as the phantom for that boss fight and manage to win. That is the only thing I could see being permanently locked out if the servers were down.

Anyone buying God Hand on here, be warned that it can kick your ass if you're not careful.

I am really thinking about buying a few of these games. I kind of want to play Ring of Red, Odin Sphere, and God Hand.

I don't know much about Grim Grimoire or Maximo. Are they any good?

I can't speak to Grim Grimoire but I really enjoyed Maximo. I think it was meant to be kind of a polygonal spiritual successor to Ghosts 'n' Goblins and, as such, can be quite difficult in spots.

Approach the bottom of the staircase, cast poison cloud while his back is still to you, repeat each time the spell dissipates for about 20 minutes. He will die without ever even turning around.

Maybe I will finally get around to finishing God Hand now. Speaking of which, why is Gene the only Clover character not in MvC3? Out of all their characters he is easily the best fit for a fighting game crossover.

Dark Souls, no question. Demon's Souls was my pick for best game of 2009 and unless something dramatic happens (like a TimeSplitters 4 announcement), I am pretty much done with console FPS at this point.

I did not need the incentive of trophies or anything to finish the game (despite my having attained a platinum trophy), that was due to me feeling it was the best gaming experience of 2009, but if it takes achievements for someone to finish Dark Souls, then there is nothing bad to say about that. Getting past the perception of these games being some kind of impossible endeavor (far from it, actually) might lead to more people finishing them but I can't imagine achievements/trophies being much more of an incentive for Dark Souls than trophies were for Demon's Souls, especially if the new game is more difficult, as I/we have been hearing.

I get depressed around every election. I always vote but it is always for who is the least terrible, which upsets me every single time.
