Gory fun
This game does some interesting things, such as telling a story from over 150 different people, or giving you the ability to take anybodies form or turn yourself into the ultimate killing machine. It's a shame that sometimes the controls don't do what you want, or that it is so hard to find all 150+ people.
I beat the game in about 15 hours, and by the time I was done, I was fairly happy to stop playing. As you gain more abilities the controls just get worse. I don't know how many times I tried to use my charged whipslash while in the air, but after getting bulletdive, would go headfirst into the ground. Or how many times I tried to consume someone, but ended up accidentally ended up throwing them in the confusion, or worse they would get killed by someone else while I was getting ready to consume them. The game was really at it's best right before I had a ton of powers and after I had the ability to skyjack helicopters.
Another problem I had with the game was not knowing exactly what was happening in some of the missions. I would get to a marked area, start fighting, than after about 10 minutes have no idea what was actually happening. Am I supposed to fight the military, the infected; should I try to lose my "wanted level?" Just too chaotic.
Out of the "big three" open-world games that just came out; inFamous, Red Faction, and this, I probably had the most pure fun with this. The thrill of running up a building, jumping off and gliding to an area with a shitload of people and attacking, hijacking a helicopter from the airstrike, blowing up the other helicopters and flying away then ditching the helicopter to lose everyone chasing me was great. Or when you sneak into a military base and "patsy" on a guard so you can perform a stealth consume on another. Good times.
