Overview
Aside from being the respected elder of Kakariko Village, Sahasrahla is also a descendant of the seven wise men of Hyrule. When the evil wizard, Agahnim, takes control of Hyrule Castle, Sahasrahla flees to a hidden sanctuary near the Eastern Palace. Princess Zelda suggests to Link that he should seek the elder for guidance. Sahasrahla sends Link on a quest to retrieve the three Pendants of Virtue (Courage, Wisdom, Power), which together will allow Link to remove the Master Sword from the Pedastal of Time and break the curse laid upon Hyrule Castle by the evil wizard.
Throughout Link's journey to save Princess Zelda, Sahasrahla is able to speak to Link telepathically and offer advice through magical tiles found in the various dungeons.
A Link Between Worlds
In The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Sahasrahla, or rather, a descendent of the Sahasrahla of A Link to the Past, is again the elder of Kakariko Village and urges Link to collect the three pendants and claim the Master Sword. His student Osfala is one of the seven sages of this generation.
